Brighton Feedback

Bean81Bean81 Member Posts: 590
Enjoyed playing the event and great to have Tikay at my table for a little bit. The structure of the levels and breaks was a plus too, butI think a few things could definitely be improved:

- Paying less than 9% of the entries is too low and makes the bubble too big and long/slow. I can't imagine many recs like this payout structure and I probably won't travel to any more events if that's standard.

- Online qualifiers should already have a seat assigned for the start, or at least not need to queue with people paying on the day. If you do need to queue after satelliting in, it should be made clear before the event. If people are worried about blinding down when running late, their chips could just remain untouched.

- I'd like the button to pay all the antes like they do at DTD. It works really well.

- The window to satellite to day 1b was too short.

    Hi Bean,

I think that's a very good post indeed, & I agree with much (though not quite all) of it.

I don't make any decisions around here, but the Team do listen to my feedback &, up to a point, respect my views & experience in the game.

    Payout Structure;

I agree with you. I'd like to see 15% of the field paid. ("field" = number of unique entries). On that basis, 48 players would have got paid at Brighton.

"Chips in play" (from the start)

Again, agree. One problem here is that many players get very cross if their chips are in play from the start but they arrive late, as they lose a few chips to the blinds. So that was why it was the way it was.

However......the worst thing (imo) of the whole weekend was to see players who had pre-qualified having to queue for several hours. This is just not acceptable (imo) &b I'm pretty sure the Team will be looking at this.

Worth making the point that Sky Poker & the venue were a little taken aback at the high number of entries, & of course this was the root of the problem.

    Button to pay the antes

Personally, I doubt that is going to happen, but I suppose it might. Personally, I'm not in favour of it. I want our recreational players to experience poker exactly as it is in the WSOP. That's just my personal opinion though, & it's no big deal either way.

    Qualifying to last longer

The only problem there is that there are only a limited number of seats available, so qualifying is, by necessity, over a fairly short period.

PS - Lovely post Sir, perfectly constructive & balanced. If only everyone could be so constructive in these matters. I can't truly say "was great to meet you" as I don't actually know who you were & on which table we met, but I can say I had great fun playing, all my table companions were huge fun, & I had a ball.

    Hi Tony,
I think it might be a good idea to move this thread to “ Poker Chat” if you would like feedback on the points raised. I only stumbled across this by chance.

    Hi TK

Agree with every point made, apart from paying out only to 48 places

As this was my first live experience in 17 years, I was very happy with all the organisation from Sky and the casino except for one thing, we needed more small denomination chips in play at the start. For several levels, dealer were regularly having to make change among all the players. Then in level 7, a guy appeared with racks of 25 value chips and put 500's worth in play for one red chip. Made things run a lot easier.

    A great thread start.

The guy at the checkin counter was telling me he was missing dealers ,with people ill or leaving, they had to pool in freelance dealers at extra cost and to the annoyance of the regular dealers. This would have contributed to the wait, which was reportedly a long wait.

Not yet Bert. "Soon", as our Mum & Dad used to say.

    Re forthcoming SPT
If I post our next holiday dates here, any chance Sky could work around them to enable me to attempt to qualify please 😉

The WSOP have released their structure sheets for 2018, and in the three High Roller events, the Big Blind will pay the antes for the table, and I guess if it works there (idea is to speed up the game), it will migrate to smaller events for 2019.

Yup, I guess it will. As a traditionalist, I'm pretty sad about that, though it won't affect me.

It's actually an elegant solution to the problem of the Dealer collecting antes in an efficient & organised way, and players being so tardy about putting their antes in.

A good Dealer, of course, never had that problem - they advised the Table what they must do, & when, & woe betide any serial offender who did not comply.
