Not exciting and certainly at the stakes I'm using not sexy. However, I think that using basic strategies it should be achievable for a relative beginner, although not a complete newbie to hit this target by year end.
I shall be trading 2 sports Football and Tennis. Football strategies will be over/under goals, lay the draw, lay the leader, dutching the correct score and back the favorite. Tennis will focus on lay the leader.
Stakes will be small, looking to keep liability to £2 a trade to start, although this is not set in stone.
The aim with this challenge is to develop good discipline around my trading and therefore good habits and steady profits. the amount of profit is immaterial really, this is simply groundwork for the introduction of a much larger fund base for next year.
What works at minimal stakes works at higher stakes assuming the market I trade has the liquidity.
The discipline begins immediately as researching tonight's league 2 game shows little encouragement for what I want to trade so I'm not bothering there and the tennis is mostly 1st round challenger events which I can't devote the time to stream today so will leave that alone as well.
Be Lucky.

That's done Mark, GL m8.
Ideally a scoreless first 10 minutes should generate a trade with about 15% profit
First off was the Heather Watson tennis match. Entering at 1 set all and neither player looking particularly strong on serve I spent about 12 minutes laying for small £2 stakes ant trading out for 10 - 15 % profit each time netting a total of £3.52 profit.
Would have stayed around longer but with Watsons opponent taking medical time outs the market began to stagnate and although the stream was reliable it was obvious that I was at a disadvantage here, probably 2-3 seconds behind so time to exit for good.
I then traded the under 1.5 goals market on the Kings Lynn V Stockport game getting in for £15 @ 5.8 about 2 minutes prior to kick off, sticking around for about 12 minutes then trading out for a net profit of £3.21. Yes the stake was too high and yes I let it run longer than I wanted to. I tried several times to cash out as Stockport looked really threatening but the odds kept changing.
I was lucky on that trade as there wasn't really enough liquidity in the market to justify taking it. Lesson learned, DON'T break the rules of your own strategy.
BAL £36.73 PROFIT / LOSS + £6.73
Laters guys.
Yes there are markets I could trade but many fall outside of my parameters so I shall remain on the periphery and not get involved.
Football, is a case of either meaningless friendlies or tight, tension filled anxiety. Neither are particularly good for my strategies.
Rugby League, it's the challenge cup which means terrestrial coverage so potentially more liquidity but only in the fixed odds markets.
Tennis, ATP and WTA may throw up some spots to trade.
Golf, the matchplay markets are not really suitable for trading. Strokeplay is much better.
Horse Racing, I'm starting to learn more about trading these markets but it's way too early to take any positions as of yet.
So yes it's BORING, sorry.
Bal £32.01 profit / loss -£4.72 total P/L +£2.01
Got some of it back on Palace game yesterday by trading out under 0.5 goals after 10 mins and backing the leader when Palace went 1 up and trading that out at half time.
Current balance = £26.46 P/L - £3.54
Bit of football about tonight so going to see what the markets are saying and see if there's any opportunities to get a trade on. Some interesting under 1.5 goals odds in the Championship involving teams who don't score many or early.
If you have a team playing tonight good luck, unless it's Reading and if you have a bet on even better luck to you.
I dripped 3 lots of £2.50 into the over 2.5 goals market at 2.25 2.7 and 3.2.
I was going to cash out for £3.40 profit after the pen but decided to let it run for a few minutes more.
Cashed out for £8.90 profit after the second goal.
Think tonight I might look at over 3.5 goals on the Liverpool V Man U market.
I know the figures don't add up but I missed posting a couple of small wins. Does this make me @rbh112 ?

Okay so once we got over the initial novelty and approached this with our trading head on things began to become more clear.
I've certainly become more circumspect about which matches to trade and which strategies to employ. Also finding some discipline helps (don't let the missus use the account for her pinsticks etc)
Also the last 3 trades have all been traded out by me when allowing them to run would probably have doubled the profit. But, that is part of learning discipline, I have a set target % wise that is my exit point for each trade and that's when I trade out.
Still exclusively trading football, I was going to try tennis but after trialing some strategies, this is going on the backburner at least until the football season is over.
Whatever your sport and your preferred method of wagering good luck and we will revisit this in about a month and see where we are at.
I could just take the position and let it run as a bet but that's not what I'm about.

Cashed out for a small profit on Sociedad V Barcelona was going to smash this game but lost the live feed after 6 mins so didn't put anything else into the market. 94pence is a **** small return although looking at it as 37.5% ROI is better.
If it's level at half time I think a lay the draw trade would be the best strategy. A Barnsley lead at any time probably creates a good lay the leader position.
Going to stay away from the goals markets on this one as anything could happen.
Looking to trade over 2.5 goals in the Brentford V Spurs game. Currently at 1.84 so will put an order in for £2.50 at 1.94 and then look to drip two further stakes in at 2.3 and 2.9 should the game stay scoreless until those odds are reached.
Exit point will be either 2 goals or 70th minute if all 3 tranches are in.
Price dived to 1.7 pre kick off some huge money expecting lots of goals. Trade may well not happen.

The market didn't go to 3 until after minute 30 which is my limit time wise for this market so only the 2 stakes.
The half time position is, with £5 in the market, I can currently exit the trade for a loss of £3.20 or 64% on total stake.
However, the total stake on this trade should have been £7.50 so by letting it run until at least minute 70 I cannot lose more than £5 or 66.7% of that £7.50 and as I am always prepared to take a 70% loss on trades.
Now letting it run completely until minute 90 doesn't lose me any less but by minute 70 I'm looking to mitigate any losses. So lets lay the draw.

In typical fashion the big money traders have hoovered up the market in minute 77 meaning I can't trade out my 2.5 goals position so Im stuck with a £5 loss there.
