On-duty female police officer, 38, was more than three times the drink-drive limit when she was discovered asleep behind the wheel of patrol car clutching a bottle of wine

An on-duty female police officer who was more than three times the drink-drive limit when she was found asleep behind the wheel of a patrol car clutching a bottle of wine has been found guilty of misconduct. Northumbria Police officer Helen Kane (left, right), 38, was found 'slumped' against the driver side of the police van when a dog walker passed by on November 3 last year. The marked van, which also contained three police dogs, was seen parked in the middle of a junction in Whickham, near Gateshead with its engine still running. Kane, from Belmont, County Durham, stood trial last week at Teesside Crown Court (inset) charged with misconduct in a public office - which she denied. But on Friday, after less than an hour of deliberation, Kane was found guilty of the charge by a jury.

Met Policewoman calling herself 'Officer Naughty' who was suspended for setting up raunchy OnlyFans **** site quits Scotland Yard and faces disciplinary hearing

Sam Helena, who has posted a number of raunchy and half-naked pictures to her Instagram account, is self-styled as 'Good Girl Gone Bad'. It comes after Ms Helena was 'given advice regarding her online safety and security' after provoking fury from her colleagues when she posted a glamorous video in which she posed and displayed a tongue stud while in uniform in October 2020. Since the advice, though, Ms Helena has gone onto regularly post erotic pictures in lingerie and other racy outfits. But she was snared by the her superiors after they came across the OnlyFans account, which allows users to pay money to subscribe and see her posts.

Surely that should be a disciplinary offence in itself? :)

'There was serious failure to safely manage armoury': Police blunders let gun officer kill himself at airport after drink-drive arrest, coroner hears

The officer was swiped in to a police armoury where he obtained the gun he shot himself with despite having his access withdrawn following a drink-driving arrest days earlier.

One thing that always strikes me when there is a violent incident, a murder, rape or whatever. No matter where it happens in the country, no matter what Police force, they the Police spokesman ALWAYS trots out the same cliches. They must have a National Script.

"Officers/skilled detectives are working tirelessly (or "night & day") to solve it"

"Specially trained officers". No matter what the incident, specially trained officers are always involved.

"Extra police presence on the streets to re-assure the local community." Complete bollox of course.

"This is complex and fast-moving investigation." There's never been an easy one to solve, or a slow-moving enquiry.

I have a little bingo card that I fill in when i read these news items.

With all this going on, you would think they would do better.

What percentage of crimes lead to a suspect being charged?
7.8% of crimes led to a suspect being charged, down from... Matt Parr said the public has "rumbled" that the police do not have the capacity to deal with common crimes, such as burglaries or car crime, and have given up reporting incidents to police.

Innocent elderly man arrested in Lancashire Police blunder.

An elderly man was arrested in a case of mistaken identity and forced to make two trips to a court at the other side of the country before the blunder was discovered.

Fazal Dad Choudhury was due to stand trial in Luton accused of fraud.

But an 88-year-old retired bus driver with the same name was arrested in Lancashire.

A judge has written to the Chief Constable of Lancashire Police to demand answers.

The man was held by officers and later had to make two journeys to Luton Crown Court.

Fingerprint checks then discovered he was the wrong Fazal Dad Choudhury.

Judge David Farrell KC said he would be writing to Chief Constable Chris Rowley to ask why an innocent man was detained when a simple fingerprint check would have established he was not the suspect.

Lancashire Police has been asked to comment.
