Oh god, not one of THOSE threads

edited December 2011 in Poker Chat
Hi all,

Having managed to live on poker over the last 30+ months, the time has come to perhaps utilise what's left of my little grey cells and do something a bit more productive with my life. For those who don't know, I started my second attempt at a degree at Bath University, an MEng in Civil Engineering, this week. Considering poker was a contributing factor in my downfall the first time around at Loughborough (Lboro? get it now?), I am stopping my degenrate ways and putting an end to the grind.

I'd like to do two things; say thank you to the Sky team for their work at producing a poker client which has come leaps and bounds since i first began playing on Sky; the T.V. team for their entertainment; the Priority/Customer Service team for their impeccable service (I can't remember one time where i fet unsatisfied with the result of a query); and finally, Tikay/Clare/Dave for their help and support over the summer in Vegas.

I'd also like to apologise profusely to anyone I have been rude at in the chatbox. Yes, some people play hands incredibly badly, and yes, they do get lucky, but that is no reason for me to have given out lip. Sim and Tom (rolfus) can probably attest that outside of poker, they have never once seen me lose my temper, or be rude to someone. That is one aspect of pokers influence on me I hope stays behind with the tables.

Things I will continue to do with poker;

  • Play this Sunday's TSP final
  • Try and qualify for VLV next year
  • Occasinally play a live tournament
Beyond that, I am putting a full stop on this part of my life.

Good luck to all of you, there are some very good souls on this forum (who have a much healthier attitude to poker than myself).

Chris

p.s. attached are my poker points for the month; with my Sick Day allowance it will be >44000. This month has been a sick grind.

    GL with the new grind - lectures, notes, exams, daytime-tv, etc.

    From the couple of live tables we have shared you seemed like a top bloke.

    Good luck coxy, but i'm sure even with the best will in the world, there is loads of downtime at uni that will find your fingers wandering for a few easy ££££ instead of a 5000 word dissertation!

    There is a big difference between playing once every two months or so, to waking up at 8am and playing 8-10 hours, every day of the week ;)
