Right, tonight/tomorrow day time is going to be some quality time with Emma (Llamas) so I won't be playing again until again till Sunday night apart from the few I squeeze in now before she gets here, so I'll post up in about 1 hour when my session is finished.
Cheers Sporny. Yeah I still try and make an appearance at DTD cos it's great fun but I'll see what happens. Anyone know why it says NA for my Ability/100 on SS? Am I that bad it's not even applicable? lol Posted by Lambert180
Didn't have time to update my progress from Saturday morning because Emma turned up but basically I played 3 and won 2 of them. I'll give some updated total figures after my session tonight and just include them in that.
Another good session for me I know I have definitely been improving my game but I'm certainly having a bit of run good at the moment. So on Saturday I won 2 out of 3 and tonight I won 7 out of 10. So my new totals are...
Played 159 Won 92 Profit/Loss +£46.30 Win Rate 57.86%
Still on the up, things are going well still, and finally starting to turn a pretty decent profit, my BR is now £199.38 so should be comfortably rolled for £11 DYMs before the end of the month. I'll keep you posted...
Poker Points = 734
Also, I now have 623 league points which puts me 86th in the STT league so I'm moving up slowly.
Great progress Lambert, keep it going sir. In great form at the moment, so the £11s may be within reach before the end of the month. That will mean double C4P + 10 league points per win instead of 7, make it happen sir, GL!
Another very short session, it's really annoying me now that I'm not finding the time to play more. Have to get some proper volume in soon. I wanna reach the 200 games mark within the next 3 sessions. Tonight I played 6 and won 3, so its...
Played 165 Won 95 Profit/Loss +£43.30 Win Rate 57.58%
Few quid down tonight thanks to rake but I'm still happy with my game.
Poker Points = 764. Need to get a real move on to meet my volume/C4p target. I need to get to about 600 games by the end of the month to make it, but I'm sure I can do it if I get a few good days in.
Yeah, I imagine you're in a similar situation to me because I've jut recently started a new job and kinda concentrating on that AND concentrating on buying a house so yeah ...busy
Managed to get a bigger session in tonight than normal, played 13, won 8 so not too shabby, slowly building it up. The stats are now...
Played 178 Won 103 Profit/Loss +£51.80 Win Rate 57.87%
Profit's coming along nicely, got my BR up to £204 now. What do you guys think of my win rate so far, I know people say 60% is really good, do you think mine is going good so far and what do you think of the sample size, is it far too early to tell you?? Is 60% the best I can reasonably expect if I'm good or do you think 60% is minimum if you're a good player?
Poker Points = 829
And people said I couldnt make much from this!! If I'd have started with my £150 BR on cash, I'd only be rolled for 4NL and would take at least the same amount of time it's took me to win £51.80 and with higher risk and much less C4P.

Yep Paul Excellent & most importantly you are having fun with it . So a enjoyable hobby that rewards you with lots of fun & a bit of cash , how bad lol .
Yeah most definitely. What do you think of my win-rate question though?
What should a good player (I class myself as good) aim to have as their win rate? Should I be happy with anything thats 55% + really because it's profit or do I wanna be aiming around 60% mark or what?

Sharkscope has me as winning 75p per game at the 5.50 level (202 games so still not an amazing sample, but if anything is slightly hampered from playing some of them when I was new to poker) which is equivalent to winning 62.5%.
There are many players better than me so 65% is definitely achievable.
But anything over 55% and you should be happy as you are still relatively new to DYMs and a profit's a profit.
Keep it up
By the way at the 5.50s every 1% extra you put on your win rate is an extra 10p profit per game. There you go, even more incentive for you to increase it :P
This BR diary/challenge prob has more momentum than most atm....
Important to play as much as poss whilst ur playing and running well coz when things turn, (and u know they will) it's reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy hard to turn the momentum back round again and get it going in your favour.
As well as strategy and volume, tilt control, patience and discipline are much more important in dyms than most other forums of poker because the edges are so small to start with.
Keep an eye on your sample size, don't wanna put a downer on it, but those stats could be misleading, not saying they are, but need a much larger sample size than that to draw any solid conclusions.
As ya can see reading dons diary, when it's going good, all is gr8, when things go backwards, it's so hard to recover, especially when you're grinding away each game for an avg profit of 40p or w/e it is. Can be demoralising. So play as much as you can whilst you got the good vibes going!
Anyway so far so good.
Saw a picture of u the other day btw, has anyone every said u look like Michael Mcintyre?
Well that's good, yeah I'm definitely happy to be in profit at the moment, and it's a fairly decent profit really for not that much work and I think my DYM game has improved alot since I first took up this challenge so I think the only way is up.

Cheers Dohhhhhh, always nice to get some positive feedback. Yeah I know it's still a tiny sample size, I've been a bit busy recently and not been getting in the volume I wanted/planned. I'm hoping to start getting in some proper volume soon and get up to 1000 games pretty sharpish. You think that would be a fair point to start noticing trends etc?
Yeah don't worry though, I know what you mean, I'm not perfect but I like to think I'm alot better than The_Don when it comes to tilt etc lol. I've already had one bit of run bad since I've started where I was about £30 down (from my starting £150) and I just couldnt win a single race. I kept playing really well, getting to final 4, chip leader or bare minimum not last and losing races like AK v AJ and stuff, so that was quite painful, but while the losses can accumulate pretty fast, so can the wins, so I've turned that £30 down into a £50 up in the space of a week with fairly little volume.
Either way, I'm prepared for the beast that is variance, although I was always under the impression that DYMs (if played correctly) are about as low variance as you can get... ?
LOL no, no-one has ever said I look like Michael Mcintyre... where have you seen my pic if you dont mind me asking?
Yeh ur right about dyms being low* variance, but that's only over a large sample.
When I experimented with them (maybe 2 weeks worth) I remember starting a few sessions losing 6 outta my first 7, then it became a big grind just to get back even. Gets demoralising.
Stats so far r impressive tho, gl.
edit - spent last 20 mins watching MM clips. This 1 is brilliant.
Yeah Michael Mcintyre is brilliant. It may have been me, I guess I could see why someone would say I look like him, and I do have a fair few black and white photos (thanks to my girlfriend lol).
Yeah I definitely know what you mean about a losing session, dunno if you paid attention to this near the start, I was doing quite well, making small profits, then I had one bad session lost about 7 out of 10 and was suddenly down like £30 and it was sickening how I could lose so much money in such a short space of time. But as I said in my other post... I've managed an £80 turn around in a short space of time to get back to £50 profit. If I get decent length sessions in, then it's not a big surprise to be up £10-£15 per night which I'm happy with, and that will double (as will my C4P) when I move to £11 DYMs.
Dunno, if you read earlier posts, but my aim is to just absolutely batter DYMs for 3 months straight, get into the top 30 STTers for this quarter and get into TSP, so wish me luck. Getting into the top 30 should be easy, it's just finishing top 6 in that MTT that'll be a bit tougher lol.
Yeah I'm aware of the pitfalls, but every format has them.
EDIT: What's a big enough sample size for me to start saying, ok yeah that is my true win-rate long term? 1000 games?
