Hi, first time im posting so hello all, and hope your well. bit of a newbie to poker but really enjoing the site, and managed to win a few of the MTT's to date so can not moan.  My question is about Hold em manager programmes? is is a dirty word or are people taking their poker on to another level by using them?, or are people using them and keeping it to them selfs, are they legal to use? is it cheating or just good bank roll managment, are people using them on sky poker.  A lot of little questions their so would be gratfull for any feedback. See you at the tables and good luck (good skill), and remember poker is a never ending game lol....

HEM doesn't work on Sky Poker, nor does PT.

As for the ethics of them, I think it comes down to personal taste. It really does add a new dimension and required skill set to the game though if you're playing on a site that does permit them. In my personal opinion (and this is Dave's, not Sky's), I prefer it without the tracking software as the game is more organic and like that you would play in the live environment.

That said, I totally appreciate the skills you do need to apply the data and utilise it in real-time, should that be your cup of tea.

    Horses for courses, basically.

HUDs aren't that useful for MTTs in my opinion due to the ever changing dynamics, I think they're aimed mainly at cash players. I have HEM and I use it on other sites but it's not really much use in the tournaments I enter.

I'm happy with the no software situation on Sky, it's a level playing field for everybody and places a little more emphasis on skill. FWIW I wouldn't be surprised if HUDs aren't permitted when regulated online poker is introduced in the USA.

if you use it correctly and put time&effort into it, hem can help you become a way better player.
most people just use it to record their sessions to try and get a pretty giraffe

Thanks for the re-posts all really appreciate that, must admit Im glad to hear sky do not run it on the site, but can fully understand where lol raise is coming from their, should your game develope and your looking to master all percentages of the game, so great feed back.  Im going to have a crack at my first live torney at the end of the month, only at local casino but in for a penny in for a pound and all that, see what happens. Another quick question if you dont mind, do the regulars who go out to the live tornys get together and have a good crack or do you tend keep your selfs to yourself, only ask because somtimes I find you can bore family and freinds who are not into it and not really interested, and somtimes you just want to have a good disscusion about it all over a beer.
