HI all.
a bit about my background might help. I started playing in june this year the same time i joined sky. when I first started i had a go at most formats then had a month on sit n go's cashing in most. I played the surviver series and managed to win it one week. I moved on to mtt and i do like playing them only a min buy in though lol, but the varients are killing me, even last night I flopped a straight 789 i had 10 jack and was called with 96 guess what came on turn and river you guessed it 9 6 anyway i digress lol. As you can guess i am just a recreational player and i am still in profit without the surviver series. so lets get to why I am seeking your advice. I  have recently started playing cash games i have played 2/4 4/8 and 5/10p yeah i know not breaking the bank for some of you lol. I find the 2/4p a bit of a lottery as everyseems to call anything 4/8p not so bad then 5/10p you get some sort of play,  my problem is I usually play pretty tight but i find doing this I just end up getting to tight and bleeding my blinds away, I have tried to play a bit more agressive but end up losing to a 8 6 when i have AK I guess i can answer this myself and just play the table and not my bank roll but anyones opinion would help thanks

your doing the right thing with playing at the lower levels.

stay there until you feel more comfortable/have a roll behind you

don't get tilted  by the silly calls/silly outdraws.  for instance if you keep getting it in with JT v 96 on a 7 8 9 then you will make LOTS of money in the long run.

in cash games you do need to loosen up a bit, hwoever at the lower levels tight is right and will see you in good stead.  don't worry about 'losing' blinds as in cash you can just top up and wait for better spots.

try and satelitte into the opens/survivors/primo/rollers etc.  these can really boost your bankroll and you can get into all of these events for very small outlays with some patience/planning.

do read dohhs guide to NL4.  it is excellent.

but the most important thing is BRM.  30-40bis is fine.  even if you get above that level don't jump up levels until your are comfortable.  being a BR nit is a great asset

good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions/post hands.

thanks scotty77 for your insight and JockBMW and pod1, both decent bikes but a zzr a dragstar1100 and a honda nighthawk is enough for me but i would like a sv1000 just  to make the big four complete, maybe if i win enough ah lol

Probably lol I know i've seen you somewhere recently, as Scotty says though, I would deffo suggest playing some satellites into MEs, especially Bounty hunters as one head will have covered your entry fee.

Also if you run good you could get a nice cash, which brings confidence and allows you to move up a few levels, I satted into the Super BH last month for £1.05 and came 2nd for £930. I withdrew most of it but left enough to "take a shot" Before then I never thought I would be playing 25/50 cash.

EDIT: Not only has my profit increased, but I am finding poker a LOT more fun.
