Using The Check Boxes At The Table

Hey all,

What are your thoughts of using the check boxes like check/fold, fold etc. I do use them fairly often out of laziness but I can't help but think it gives away a bit of info.

Like if it comes round to me and I think for a bit then fold, it shows I've thought about my hand and the situation (how many limpers or whatever the case may be) and folded, whereas when I repeatedly have check/fold ticked and keep insta-folding, do you think it gives away that I'm playing super tight and just ticking that every time I don't see a monster in the pocket??

^^Which is actually the case, so it would be portraying the truth lol.

Or am I just thinking too much?

I never tick "check/fold", as unless you also do that with some good hands (Which is obv bad) then yes it gives info.

I tick "Fold" about 90% of the time in DYMs lol if you have bad cards you don't need to think (or pretend to) about it IMO

If you notice someone uses the "Call any" button, wasn't too rare when I used to play micro cash, 1) they are stupid, 2) Overbet them when you have a hand!

I use them quite a lot in DYMs Lambert, firstly for convenience when multi-tabling but secondly I think they serve some purpose in emphasizing just how tight your playing which can only be good for later steals imo.

Well yeah you've both mentioned DYMs and this is when I use it and was kinda why I was asking. Because I multi-table and as Fail said, you're gonna be folding 90% of the time so I do use the button alot, just didnt know if it was giving away info. But you make a good point JC about making people aware how tight you are.

me personally never use them if people are payin attention as u said gives free info at times but i can understand why it would good if multi-tabling i play most up 2 4 tables and can manage without it

not only that but if you use the 2x 3x bet constantly for your raises you kinda show a pattern to how much you raise each time with certain hands, better to mix it up a bit and put in different amounts so when you bet 450 as a 3x raise it can be quite a bit to get commited with depending on level blinds are and your stack so put in a manual 350 which sometimes still has same effect to steal blinds rather than a 250 which they might always call with any 2 cards. also waiting a bit before betting can make them think longer as to why you have waited before betting and also by using the auto bet amount is faster and you can trick them a little about how strong you are or how weak you look. Quite a lot of phycology involved with this sometimes. Mix it up in my opinion.

When playing cash I ALWAYS use them, if 4-tabling I can't see how you can cope without them, well maybe that's down to checking the forums and other stuff but even then I don't think it makes that much difference to the people you're playing unless they are very good but that's unlikely as I try and get table selcetion right as opposed to just sitting randomly and hoping for the best.

Also if you are playing other good players they are also probably using auto buttons as much as you as they're probably equally if not more lazy then you lol.

+1 to dudeskin. I use them regular. yes it might give off a tell that im gna raise when im gonna raise but really that only effects those behind me and that raise will effect them in the same way.

this is the best way imo.......however..


1 if i see some using the auto check i will min raise(if in directly in front of them).
2 A couple of times i have gone to check/call using the auto box just as the guy on my right shoves all in,and i have ended up calling my stack with rag ace etc

dazzler i use the 3x button all the time so the players DONT know the strenghth of my hand! pre flop i use them but post i like to fly by the seat of my pants!!! lol(cash tables)

i have a big sticky label stuck over the top of "said" button withy "do not push" written over it. i here it has the same effect as "crossing the matter streams!!" (shows my age here lol)
