Spain is following in the footsteps of France and Italy and regulating the market.

Only government-licensed ".es" sites will be able to operate in the country. All ".com" sites will be expected / forced to leave the market.

P.S. Regarding your question, "WHY SHOULD WHERE YOU LIVE dictate playing online?"

That's a question millions of Americans have been asking themselves since 15th April 2011!!!

If you have a UK bank account, i dont see the issue really, just carry on playing, whos business is it that you live in Spain...

Does this mean that if im on holiday in Spain, I cant play Sky Poker?

    Seems a bit harsh imo

Gregg --> Sadly for the most part it's not up to Sky. Not that i'm keen on countries keeping play between residents, so many reasons why i personally think an internation site is so much more beneficial for people.
Having said that, i do quite like Sky's UK fan-base and community, it rocks.

.....million. (for the info, and the Black Friday reference :P)
If there's anyone on here i'd blindly follow and trust, it's James, so i assume what he's saying is dead on.

UL on the life run-bad though sir. But heck, all ya need is some buddies in Spain and a deck of cards. Poker sure is a **** beautiful thing.

Are they closing the accounts or just blocking them while the IP address show's someone trying to play from a prohibited area?

I thought the EUROZONE was supposed to be a free market economy.
ie: Free from member nations discriminating or excluding another members goods or services.

Under EU law, on-line gambling is legal.

However, the European Union made ONE ruling, stating that soverign states cannot overrule EU law, and then promptly made ANOTHER ruling that individual countries can restrict on-line gambling!

So, to say that clarification is needed is an epic understatement...
