I used to think that anyone who played live poker with headphones on was quite amusing and could never understand the necessity. But having played in a few live events i'm changing my opinion.
What really bugs me is, local live players who think that online players, especially "Sky Players" are a bit of a joke. You make an simple honest mistake and local yokal has to have his say and stick his two pennies worth in, constantly reminding you that live poker is nothing like "Sky Poker".
You don't have "Antes", you only play "Six Max", Oh! you must be a Sky Poker Player, this is a real game etc etc. Has anyone else experienced this live at SPT?
I know players use these type of tacktics to put you off your game but I am proud to be a Sky Player and it annoys me that we get tarred and feathered at some of these events just because we enjoy our online poker.
Personally I think we have some great players representing Sky Poker at live events and its a shame that we don't get the acknowledgment or respect we deserve at the tables.
Is there anything we can do to enhance the reputation of our Sky Players at live events? or should I just get a set of headphones?
I suppose we will just have to get out there and keep proving them wrong until they sit up and notice.

I'm proud to represent TPT but i'm seriously thinking of attending incognito, back to my "Suited & Booted" ways for the Newcastle event just to see if I can get an edge.
A good point made also by maxally too regarding Teams at live events. I was watching the WSOP last night and the hendon mob plus a few others were mentioned on more than one occasion.
Maybe in years to come our own teams may have the same fearful and respected reputation.
Ive played 3 UKIPTs always wearing my orange TKP colours, people often do say to me, "what does it mean?", "what do you do?" and "whys that the name?" infact i had a well known player in Dublin showing more interest than others and the reaction is almost always friendly. I think being in a team offers diff things to different people. What TKP offers me is support, now as a player with a bad mind set this little bit of extra support means the world to me.
Do i like the name? Well tbh thats not for me to choose. I imagine the same goes in football, you may support and love a team, but at times wish it was named something else. Im not saying this is correct of coarse.
I think its all down to personal opinion.
I can understand Flashflushes point about not joining a team if you're a semi-pro/pro player and those type of players on the site are not generally members of teams. I'm fine with that and their reasoning.
For me, SPT events are as much a night/weekend out as playing poker. Being in a team gives the chance to indulge in some banter within the team and other teams and reflects what Skypoker is about, enjoying poker.Long may it continue.
As for other players deriding Sky players, who cares what they think. If they were any good they'd be playing EPT'S,WSOPE events etc, not sat at a £45 buy in on a Saturday afternoon in deepest darkest Luton with me. Also, I suspect, a lot of Skyplayers are on other sites like me and play full ring, antes etc, so it's really an invalid point any way.
I enjoy playing Sky,online and live, and will use words that I'm not allowed to on here to those who think my poker opinion is less valid because I choose to play with Sky.
