    Ok- I'm on!

    Here's the deal...

I'm sat on a full ring 10 seater table 25p/50p right now- Kirkstall with £50

And I've opened up a second 25p/50p 10 seater table- Gravesend.

Come and play me if you fancy it.

I'm going to spend the next couple of hours multi-tabling on these full-ring games and seeing how it suits. I know it didn't float James' boat, but who knows? One's man meat is another man's poison etc.

    Here I go...!

    OK- 1st hour- playing solid.

Up to £65 on one table and sitting pretty on around £50 on the other. That is, I WAS, until I came up against pocket kings v my AK on K-3-3 board.

So I'm a buy-in down now on that table but dusting myself down, reloading and cracking on!

It does require a lot more patience and discipline on the 10 seaters but I don't mind that- especially if I'm multi-tabling because I don't get bored and start playing overly loose.

I think this shows overall that, for better or for worse, I'm a tighter player than James!

I'll make sure they extend that to March 2023.

And you owe me 75p Hoggers!

OK, 2 hours playing 2 full-ring tables and I lost a little bit of money- but not a lot.

It was fairly straightforward to play but I definitely take James' point, it's not for action junkies. You'd have to get 4 of those tables open to get the same level of engagement as two 6 max tables.

I think 10 seaters are good to play in the background whilst doing other things, watching TV, writing emails etc, so you only play a hand every now and then and you're happy to fold away, instead of being tempted to play hands you shouldn't because you're bored.

The other good thing of course is that when you do hit your hand, you're more likely to get action as there are more opponents around to take an interest.

OK, taking a short break now and then I'll be back on the 6 max!

Very funny Pete. Everyone will find that amusing (except Orford obviously) ;-)

    OK, I'm done for today!

Have endured a bit of a beating on the 6 max cash tables tonight, having played excellently this afternoon.

    C'est la vie.

I shall return stronger, wiser andf hopefully less broke tomorrow!

Hi Martin- fair question although I've been doing nothing but MTTs for the past 2 years on Sky and prior to that I played STT DYM's for a year.

This is the first time I've played cash in absolutely ages. So it's a bit of a novelty for me.

As for where the profit is made- I don't have access to those figures, but I'd be highly surprised if across the industry cash wasn't the main source of profit on poker sites.

I'd be happy to be corrected though on this point.

OK, off and running for another night on the baize.

Once again I'm kicking off by multi-tabling on the full ring 10 seater tables at 25p/50p with £50 on each table.

    Let's see what happens.

I'm already playing on Kirkstall but have opened up a new table Stevenage and expect that to be maxed out before long.

    See you there!

Ok, not the most profitable of sessions- lost an early buy-in but then held steady for the next two hours and ended with the damage having been lessened overall.

Now sat on a 50p/£1 table- waiting for action!

    Cheers Martin.

    Yes, I think Will48 might be a wind-up merchant.

And thanks for the comments re-the cash crusade. I've really enjoyed playing cash again and also playing with my own money. Certainly sharpens the senses!

Overall have taken £100 to £400 during the month so happy with my work.

Year by year, my poker improves.

My bankroll management remains as ever, completely woeful though!

    Well...

Like Richard, I've been putting in some extra hours at the cash tables. During the last week, I've played a number of sessions, at various times of day, at the new 'Action' tables (initially at the 10p/10p level and then at 20p/20p). And here are the results:

    15/12  -£0.16
    17/12  -£10
    17/12  +£31.36
    18/12  +£1.47
    20/12  -£8.06
    21/12  +£1.96
    21/12  +£1.70
    22/12  -£0.98
    22/12  +£13.16

So, a net PROFIT of £30.45. Boom!

    Now, a few observations:

    1) Each of these sessions was, on average, 30 minutes long. Playing for less time, but on a more frequent basis, makes a pleasant change. It clearly had a positive effect on my game and ROI. So, I'd like to thank LOL_RAISE for his Top Tip!

    2) I think "moving down" to these limits was a good idea, after a series of heavy losses at the 25p/50p tables. Besides, when you consider my bankroll, these are the limits I SHOULD be playing.

    3) The 'Action' tables suit my style (i.e. an impatient need to play every other hand). I've also started to take a mercenary approach towards short-stackers, which, for the most part, is paying off.

I still haven't concluded which is the best time of day / week to play. I will continue my analysis, as we enter the fourth and final week of the Cash Crusade.

    So, what's the theme...?

    TABLE SELECTION

What's the best time of day to play? What do you make of the new 'Action' and 'Deep' tables? Do you ever choose a table based on the size of the average pot? Do you prefer a table of full stacks, or a table of shallow stacks? Do you prefer to play heads-up? If so, are there are players you look to avoid?

My "research" continues on Boxing Day. I'll be playing 'Action' tables, 'Deep' tables and a bit of heads-up cash. So, see you on Monday 26th at 7pm.

    Have a fantastic Christmas!

    Hi all,

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas and are having a restful Boxing Day.

I'm meant to be on PTP duties this evening, continuing with my Cash Crusade. Please be advised that my plans could be thwarted by THIS. Power cuts are a frequent inconvenience, so, if I disappear completely from the tables and forum, you know what's happened!

Assuming I'm able to stay on-line, I'll be playing a variety of cash tables. On Christmas Eve, I had two further winning sessions at the 20p/20p 'Action' tables. So, I intend to move up a level to the 30p/30p limit - and that's where I'll be starting my evening.

    See you at 7pm*

    * hopefully
