Do you think heads-up sngs are more profitable and more worthy to play than DYMs? Any opinions?

You can play them ALOT faster and earn C4P ALOT faster with HU SnGs but they can be VERY swingy... I'd like to say DYMs are lower variance but it's very easier to be have a bit of run bad, having trouble winning races and to go on a big downswing.

Just depends what you like to play really cos DYMs are all about sitting tight and surviving and HUs is the complete opposite.

The problem is that there has been a certain approach to DYM especially in Sky the last months and DYMs have been much more difficult. When you are still 6-handed at the late levels variance is very high and you need to be really lucky to survive. That's a big issue about DYMs.

It is true that they seem to be getting tighter and there are more players left at later stages more often but that doesn't change the fact they can still be profitable. Obviously you might not be as good as JC but if you look at his thread, you will see his is still making a VERY nice consistent profit at them.

No one can be as good as JC. He is the Master.

The thing is that HU include more skill to play them, win them and I think less luck. And also as you said you can play more, earn more C4P and you need a win rate minimum as the win rate of DYMs. A better win rate is also more propable in HU than in DYMs.

Well frankly that depends on if you're any good at HUs or not lol. If you're not you could easily get crushed at HUs SnGs and think nothing of losing 10BIs in a row. You could lose that many in a row just through variance no matter how good you are.

If you're gonna play HUs SnGs then you wanna have a very comfortable BR, forget all this 20-30 Buyins and stuff you can use for all formats... you could get that crushed with a bit of bad variance multitabling HUs, so just make sure you got enought to handle the swings so start a really low level if need be.

For sure if you are not good at playing HU you are going to be crushed and you need definitely a bigger bankroll in order to overcome variance and bad spots.

I agree with what you have said here as regards to holdem, however I feel that the value DYMs are to be found in Omaha or my particular favorite Omaha Hilo.

    HU SNGs all the way.

Varience is not a major issue in heads up play imo. There is plenty of play availble in the standerd SNGs. I personally never play turbo or hypercharged SNGs.

Your sitting 75BBs deep to start, plenty of play. And standered in HU SNG at the £5.50 level and below is very poor.

I see all these DYM diaries and most players are grinding a minute profit. Profit potential is greater in HU SNGs imo and multi tabling 2-3 tables is very easy.

Personal note, 5+ tabling HU'Ss is extremely difficult, your range becomes narrowed and you become easiy exploitable.

Would love to see someone try a HU SNG diary. I dont have the time to play, but think HU play is the most fun aspect of poker.
