A busy night in store...

It kicks off at 9pm with this week's Top of the Pots top 20 countdown.

Then, between 10pm and 1am, it's three hours of action from the Master Cash tables.

Throughout the show, you can expect live updates from the boys and girls at SPT Newcastle, plus we'll be discussing:

TABLE SELECTION

(Yes, I'm seamlessly integrating one of the themes of my Cash Crusade promotion!) Do you look for anything more than just an empty seat? What's the best time of day to play? Do you choose a cash table with a small or large average pot? Do you prefer to sit alongside short stacks or big stacks? Are there any players you try to avoid?

And, as if all that wasn't enough, Trevor and I will be running an on-air COMPETITION, awarding free seats to Monday's £50,000 UKOPS Semi (worth £24 each). Details will be revealed on channel 865 from 9pm.

    Hey guys,

Prob won't be able to play much tonight but thought I would send something anyway.

And, no, I am not plugging my twitter... which is @simukpoker by the way... :P

While it is important to game select and not sit at at a game that you don't consider yourself a favour at... I am slightly disappointed that some players take this too far. Frequently at the higher stakes tables as soon as the weaker player leaves, most of the regs will instantly leave to, thus the game breaks and we end up with no game at all! Obviously table selection is important for the semi-serious player but I feel it needs to be stressed that the pros continue to keep the games running as often as is possible, instead of jumping in and out when there is a weaker player.

The higher games run around certain players like Sam1986, Lol_Raise and AJS to start the games and if they also decided to jump in and out of games then we would have a problem. Especially when you consider that Sky is a growing site. The way that some people go about it shows some pretty poor etiquette imo. Imagine that at a live cash table!

Generally speaking large average pots and bigger stacks mean that the game is more wild and the players are looser. A good player would expect more variance in games like this, but overall a much higher winrate.

Tight players are also very beatable but its hardly the most exciting way to play poker!

Sorry if this came over as a bit of a rant.

    Have a great show.

    Sim

    James

I railed quite a few tables on the cash crusade and thought both of you aquitted yourself well.
I am a recreational player and talk a good game more often than playing one!

But it did appear that on quite a few occasions both of you got into trouble raising to bigger stacks out of position. committing the whole of your stack, when big stacks re-raised?

In cash. even with premium hands is there justification in checking after the flop when opponents have you covered? In an attempt to establish pot control and limit your liabilities.

Orford has stated if you achieve the lowest return after the experiment. He expects you to watch all three Transformer Movies consecutively!

What forfeit would you expect him to do?

    Have a great show!

My bankroll only really allows me to play NL4, at this level I usually look for regulars and avoid them! As for chip stacks, I usually look for people sitting down with £1.60 as this is the default amount in the box that pops up when you sit down - 99.9% of the NL4 grinders usually sit down with the maximum £4, so I use this as a tell to help me try to pick out the weaker players.

I always sit down with 1.60. I look for tables with no regs and play loose agg. If i lose my 1.60 i either reload 1.60 or if its a table i think i can beat reload 4. Works 4 me.

I just look for the higher average pot because I guess more people are seeing a flop so more chance to get called should I have a monster hand.

Thought I'd try my luck at the 3k BH seeing as it's the SPT thinking the field would be small and easy, no such luck haha

I have lists of players that I look to play against. If I can't find any of them, I look for tables clear of the players that I want to avoid. When Hursty moves to your left & Scotty to your right then it is time to move elsewhere.

My Tip: Play tonight while most of the top players are at the SPT in Newcastle.

    Have a good show gents.

As for table selection, you obviously would like a table with as many not so good players as possible. It's even better if they're aggressive with no idea when to be aggressive and when not to be.

The average pot size is good to look at when it's quite late of an evening, especially on a Friday and Saturday night when you can guarantee a few drunk players splashing around.

I wouldn't say a table of regs puts me off joining if there looks like the table has some value, but if any of the regs have an edge over me i'd be looking to sit in position against them.

Tha games do seem softer early/ mid morning and after midnight.

These are the times I tend to try a few tables out at the next level up, especially after midnight if i've been running good on my usual level.

Seeing as everyone is sending in trivia questions, I'll send a couple in too.

Which Arsenal player blatantly dived to win a last minute penalty in the third round of the FA cup last season?
Also, which player scored the penalty to force a thoroughly undeserved replay?

Looking forward to us getting revenge this season :)

Just watching mastercash and was wondering how many ppl you think play on these tables to give off an image as they know it it being watched by a lot of ppl who they will see again and again on those tables and can use it to mislead ppl into thinking they,re a bad player?

Or maybe its just me as watching some of the 50p/£1 - some of the play hasn,t been to optimal
