Changes - SPT Luton Satellites - starting TONIGHT. Ish.

SPT Luton is a two-day jobbie, 15,000 chips, & a £220 Buy-In, & carries, if I recall correctly, a Guarantee of £30,000. Oooohhhhhh!

After much furrowing of brows, it has been decided NOT to commence the FULL SCHEDULE of Satellites until the first week in January, as they will work against the Xmas UKOPS Satellites, & spread the Satellite liquidity too thinly between the two.

So, as and from TONIGHT (9.30pm), the "£24, one in 10" Daily Semi-Finals to SPT Luton will commence. There will continue until the first week in January, at which time, the FULL SPT Luton satellite schedule will be introduced, withg all the Micro-Feeders, etc.

Luton SPT will be the greatest, it really will. Lovely room, & the regulars are a great bunch.

I hope you all try & qualify.

Luton was possibly my favourite even last year - and that was despite knowing fewer people than normal there (a lot of Southerners turned up - sigh). Sadly, I will be flying to France on that day (this is not a euphemism), and will miss the event. May I be the first to wish everyone good luck in the sats and at the event, and remember, if I can finish 3rd, anyone can!

And if you're not sat to my left causing trouble it HAS to improve my chances!

this is not a good thing for me, it has taken time away from the smaller stakes players to qualify, as my BR does not cover £24 to play a semi in December, i would not be able to qualify till January, that does not leave time to arrange time of work and budget a trip to Luton, I am pretty sure i am not the only low stakes player this will affect and am quite dissapointed that the low stakes players were not taken into account when this decision was made.

ALL players are taken into Account when scheduling Satellites, but there is more than SPT to consider - much more.

    hmmmmm...

Think i agree with Rab here!!

I Have, like others i guess, more time available over Christmas, Engineerring & construction generally shut down, and was looking forward to playings sats for SPT & UKOPS!!

Points made by Rab, Seem Relevant, Nice to qualfy early for an SPT to organise trip properly, and really cant see any hurt at all by having lower stakes sats for SPT NOW!! As they ALWAYS are after the previous SPT!

I Understand, workload & schedules may be reason, BUT, maybe a re-look/think FTW!!!

Good Post Rab, & Thanks for Info Tikay!!

    Any thoughts People????

im with you rab and hitman, being a "southerner" this is by far the closest event for me. like you put in the thread regarding "action" tables tikay ,choice for players is very important. although i can afford the semis i looked at the semi last night 5 mins before it was ment to start and with the amount of people in it(and quality of field) i didnt fancy my chances. paying £24 quid would have been -ev lol. im sure if i felt this ,others would have also.
what about a comprise and have sats into it over the weekends when more players spend more money. the primo sats on sunday get a large turn out, surely with satellites running all day Saturday and all day Sunday the semis on these days would be  big and thus draw a bigger field anyhows.

I agree some smaller sats would be good for Luton. I dont intend to spend £24 to qualify and i wont even be attempting to qualify for the UKOPS as prefer to play big events live, rather than online. However, i spend mostly the week day playing poker as i normally have a life at the weekend...

    Morning chaps.

As I previously noted, the decision was complex, & revolved around UKOPS, & the need not to "over-satellite" the Site, & people's bankrolls.

However, some good points well made in this thread, so I'll send it upstairs. In thuth, they have probably seen it already, they have been monitoring all the "Changes" Threads.

You never know, they may have a re-think.

Luton is great for me and I would play a lot of SATS up to the sum of £24, but not just one SAT for £24 )

you may find Dave that the semi still ran but it was just the money on offer, which I found a little strange as well.

Just incase Dave didn't thank everyone......... THANKS!

I really hope they do have a re-think upstairs, I think alot of valid points have been made in this thread.

Pod1's point about the current sats being -ev is very true, I played the first one and the quality of the field was way too high to make shelling out another 24 quid worthwhile and judging by the numbers signing up last night I think a few others must tink the same way.

after missing newcastle due to other than poker commitments, and having been at the three SPT events prior to Newcastle, I was looking forward to trying to satellite through to Luton cheaply, as I have to all the others I made it to. This is due to getting bitten by the bug that is the SPT where new friends have been made and the whole experience is social and friendly. some of us rely on satelliting in cheaply as the cost of a weekend in cardiff or Newcastle can bite into ones budget so as a personal view i hope that in future the low stake satellites are introduced at the beginning of the qualification period. the £24 is at the moment out of my budget so i am going to have to try to fit in satellites in January whilst working some night shifts seriously reducing days i have availible to qualify.
sorry if this sounds like a moan, as it is not meant to be, but just hope to explain to sky that some of us low stake players look forward to the SPT events and meeting players we have chatted to at the online tables.
apart from this sky poker is definitely improving and giving more variety for players so can say on the whole to keep up the good work.
