i'm thinking of playing poker seriously in terms of trying to make a little money on the side. I am not planning to set the world on fire but my question is this. i have set aside of bankroll that is 20 full buy ins, however if i decide to play 2 tables at once do i need a bankroll twice as big. ie 5/10 bankroll £200 if i decide to play 2 tables does it need to be £400

I wouldn't say double exactly but you definitely wanna have more, the more tables you're playing.

If you're only playing 2 tables, at 10NL (5p/10p) then I'd say £250+ is plenty.

It's only really as you're playing alot more tables do you need a bigger BR because your win rate per table is gonna be lower, but I don't think this will come into play if you only intend to play 2 tables.

I would say no, If you played 2 tables at 20nl with a £400 br, it would be the same as playing a single table with a br of £400, however if you played many tables simultaneously your performance may be worse.

personally i'd play 2 or 3 with 20BI but for any more i'd be adding another 5BI min to my bankroll per table added,

you will hear the bigger players having 50+BI behind them and they are multitabling 8+
