Hello there Tikay, thought i might drop you a line to see if you can put me on the right track.
I have been playing for probably 18 months now and even though i have improved i dont hold onto my money for long! I have had my share of bad beats but there is something seriously missing from my game. I can not put my finger on it as i have tried different approaches but end up doing what i do best, losing.

    Hi Lelliott,

Welcome to the forums, firstly if you want to sepcifically ask TK a question there is a ask tikay thread at the top of General Poker Chat, just reallly pointing out as he may not read this one.

From what you have described it would be impossible for anyone to see why your losing what i would suggest:

    A) Post some hands in the poker clinic and see what feedback you are given
    B) maybe you have the game but not the bankroll management like alot of ppl
    C) If your more specific as to what you play, what you think are your main errors

Best of luck at the tables.

unlike most, u'll actually stand a chance of improving and becoming a winning player as you have the right attitude.

Best to look at yourself and see how you can improve rather than blaming other peoples bad play and/or bad luck.

training sites r a good place to start u can watch some low stakes videos for free.

all of the above advice is also good & will help.

    100% this.

Read all the "it's not fair, why do I always get rivered/called by idiots" nonsense Posts, then adopt the exact opposite mindset, & try to learn, instead of blaming the world. And his wife........

Many losing poker players have to blame someone....anyone except themselves!

Have a look at the clinic. There is a thread there that tells you how to post hands - then post a lot of hands/situations that you seem to be losing with -get a good selection of ideas

lelliot, I'd suggest you play the forum DTD on Monday nights, it's three tournaments that cost £5.50 in total to play and alot of the forum regulars play them as does Tikay and some of the other presenters sometimes.  That way there's a good chance that some of the forum contributors will be able to see the way you play and offer some constructive advice.

I'd also suggest using the Poker Clinic forum to post a few hands that you don;t feel you've played optimally - this doesn't just have to be hands you lose, it can be hands you've won nut not made maximum value etc.

I've done both of these things over the last few months and it has helped my game massively.

Finally, do some self assesment of your play and try to work out exactly which areas of your game are weak, where are you losing hands that you feel you should be winning, what situations do you find it difficult to make the right decision in etc....  And then ask more focussed questions on here, with specific hand examples.

Again I did exactly this fairly recently in relation to my Endgame play and have managed to address a major leak in my game because of some pretty simple advice I was given.

Most of all, keep enjoying yourself, don't beat yourself up over bad beats and have fun!

    Good Luck

Have a look at PokerVT.com and start from the very basics, read all the pointers and watch all the videos and work your way up again from there, i know it might be a bit tedious at first but treat it as if you have never played poker. It should fill in the leaks in your game and help you become a better player all round.
Its helped me massively and im still learning new things every day.
