hi guys lived in Glasgow all my life.

dos and donts

pubs .don't go into any of the pubs outside the alea casino [paisley road west] they can be a bit dodgy, its only 10 mins walk or or a £4 taxi into town centre,
theres 3 main parts of the town
the bottom of hope street were you will find my local pubs like DENHOLMS/ALPINE LODGE/SOLID ROCK/26 HOPE ST/OR THE RHODERIC DHU JUST AROUND THE CORNER,they are all friendly pubs with live intertainment .
the middle of the town [merchant city] has a lot of pubs nearly all are ok [a lot of gay pubs there]
top of the town is [sauchiehall street] most of the pubs there are student pubs, most are ok .

shopping
argyle street /buchhanan street/sauchiehall street are the main shopping streets, you also have princess square [just of sauchiehall st ] which is upmarket shopping centre .
in the merchant city you have the Italian centre with all the designer shops,
at the top of buchanan street you have the Buchannan galleries ,all the usual shops are in there river island/topman etc.

I will be on this forum all this week ,If anyone wants to know about anything or places to go like restaurants/pubs/casinos/night clubs etc, just stick it up here .and I will reply,i know most of the pubs and restaurants in the city.

one of the best value restaurents is le fiorentina just next to the alea [150 yards away]
there you get the celebration meal for two which consists of a drink when you go in [pint or a short] a three course Italian meal, a bottle of wine with the meal, a drink at the end of the meal brandy/lemoncello ,then coffee total price for two £55

the picolo mondo just over the bridge from the alea [its a more upmarket restaurant] does the same deal for £60,you need to book a couple of days in advance to get a seat on a Friday/sat

Wow - that sounds like home!!! Looking forward to visiting your fair city on Friday - might even bring some suncream by the sounds of it.

Be careful when ordering battered sausages. You are given 2 jumbo ones as standard. Apparently this is normal in Glasgow or maybe even Scotland.

No way. If I caught someone with 2 jumbo battered sausages and chips I'd think they were on some slippery slope to a cardiac arrest.

Apparently, so I've been told, a 2 sausage meal is a 'supper' and it is possible to order singles. If you order a fish supper you get TWO battered fish and chips. That's too much food for anyone surely...

Here is some evidence. You'll notice it's being washed down with a radioactive iceblast.

Not normal in Edinburgh, but we are renowned for being tight

I visited Buckfast Abbey when on holiday down in Devon, its a beautiful place, totally at odds with the establishments that tend to sell Buckie.
