Manchester 235 Casino

MARK277MARK277 Member Posts: 110
Hi All,

I am looking for some advice on the SPT Grand Final and the 235 Casino in general as I know Sky have ran a few events there. The only SPT events I have played have been 15 minutes away from my house so left the casino when I went out

Does the Casino still offer cash games during the SPT?

On the Sunday when there are fewer tables in the SPT does either Sky or the Casino organise a smaller 1 day tournament type of thing?

I am looking into the possibility of heading down to Manchester on Saturday to play in the second day one and staying until the Monday therefore would like to hopefully squeeze in as much poker as possible.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Yes, although these typically don't start until fairly late since all the tables (and dealers) are being used for the tournament earlier in the day with late reg and alternates. This is particularly true for smaller venues like Manchester 235, where they can only fit like 12-14 tables downstairs in the Poker area.

Not sure what it's like for Day 2, I haven't made it that far in any SPTs and usually end up checking out of my hotel and going home on the Sunday morning, but I imagine any cash games would start much earlier on the Sunday since there's no late reg or alternates to worry about.

Again, capacity is the limiting factor. Back in the day at DTD there would usually be a side event since they have the capacity to allow for that, but for smaller venues usually it's just cash and maybe the odd SNG.

The last SPT I went to in Manchester definitely didn't have an evening side event on Saturday. I'm not sure about Sunday for the same reason as above.

Your best bet would be to ask the casino, but idk if they even know yet.

Btw, you can always keep an eye on the other local casinos' schedules - G Casino Salford and G Casino Bury New Road both have Poker and are both within taxi distance if there isn't a side event at the SPT itself. You might be able to split the taxi with someone else, too.

Thanks for the responses. I did have a look at one Genting which was not far away from 235 and they only have cash, no tourneys. I will have a look at a few others

    According to G Casino's PokerLive app, G Bury New Road has a £25 + £7 starting @ 3pm on Sundays, LR ends 5:15pm.

G Salford doesn't have any tournaments listed on the phone app but they're listed as having a Poker room (I have a Hendon Mob flag from there... Gotta get the brag in!) and they definitely used to have tournaments. However, it was a pretty small Poker room with like 5 tables, so it's possible they've ditched tournaments since then.
