Who won what on Friday March 20th. A night to forget, or remember?

Morning.

I don't know where to begin today, what a night we had.

The highlight, or more correctly, lowlight, was that the Mini had to be cancelled due to software issues. A couple of other smaller MTT's failed to, the Reload and a Timed. Everything else ran just fine.

In an attempt to mitigate the failed Mini, a replacement was introduced at short notice, rake free & with a £4,000 Guarantee. That failed too, which was not a good look at all. I don't ever recall a night in which Sky Poker did not have a Mini, or not since it began a very long time ago.

Everyone was refunded very quickly. Luckily, the failures were before they ran, or very early, so it was easy to calculate refunds at 100%, rather than the understandable controversy that inevitably follows ICM or similar settlements.

It was notable that everyone on the forum was 100% civil, polite & understanding. What a place this is. Can't imagine many other sites where the players would be so understanding. And the fact we even have a Forum really helped.

Meanwhile, the numbers across the rest of the schedule were beyond astonishing. The £10,000 Main made £19,420, I can't recall a bigger Prize Pool in recent times outside of UKOPS. Sheriff made £5,550, Quickdraw £2,650 & Midnight Ex £2,660. The by-products of this utterly dreadful virus thing are extraordinary. For all that, I think everyone at Sky Poker & SB&G would prefer to see normality return & the virus to go away quickly. Here's hoping.

Today, Team Tech will be under the bonnet, trying to identify what caused the problems, & fixing them. Fingers crossed for tonight.

£1,000 BH @ 7.30 £1,940

£10,000 Avenger Main £19,420

£2,500 Sheriff £5,550

£1,500 Quickdraw £2,650

£1,000 Midnight Ex £2,660

    Seeing that this had it's biggest prize pool ever, The Bates decided to flick his "Favoured Player" switch & pocket the winner's purse.

    2nd was @Lightwood . He does not post here these days, like so many he has other priorities with the time at his disposal, but I know he lurks & reads these Results threads. Hope you are OK buddy, & well done last night

    £10,000 Avenger Rebuy B/Hunter (£19,420)

    I still can't quite believe that prize pool.

    heddoh18 was the champ, this was his 4th Big 6 FT since Monday. The previous 3 were 5th, 3rd & 2nd, totalling ~£738, but they were dwarfed by last nights dividend of £3,075. He remains 3rd in the Sharky Sky Poker 2020 MTT leaderboard, behind Melty & Lord Crush, but has closed the gap big time.

    funkybunch who returned on Thursday for his first MTT in 10 months & promptly won the Main ran 3rd in last night's Main, & single-tabled both. Over £2,700 in 2 MTT's across 2 nights, very nice. Hat-trick time tonight?

    splashies, who was 5th in Monday's Mini, was 4th here for ~£737. His Sharky graph starts all the way back in 2008 & is a thing of beauty.

    In 5th was @TheSaw who won Hitman 8 days earlier & is a fellow Paul Carrack fan. For TheSaw & any other Paul Carrack fans, I've uploaded a video from over 40 years ago. He was amazing then & he's amazing now. Hat-less, please note. Wicked lyrics in that song.

    £5,000 Mini Avenger

    As noted when I was preambulating at the top of the thread, this was cancelled. And yes, that is a word, & no, it's not one of these, which is technically a perambulator but was always known as a "pram".

    image

    Isn't it weird how things which were ubiquitous in our earlier years can disappear without anyone noticing? Can't remember the last time I saw a proper pram, these days it's buggies FTW.

    Calculators have disappeared too. What happened to all the old ones? There must be countless numbers of them.

    Midnight Ex prize pool £2,660, you gotta be kidding me. Do that many people really stay up after midnight? What a time to be alive.

    This went to Leegoon77 who only returned the previous night after an 8 month Sky Poker MTT sabbatical, beating Echo23 heads up beating Echo23 heads up.

    SPT Vegas Quarter (13 entries)

    As the virus thing gets grimmer by the day, I'm clinging to the hope that it will pass by summer & we can get ourselves off to Vegas later in the year. Wouldn't that be just lovely?

    Not content with winning the biggest non-UKOPS MTT in many a year, heddoh booked himself a seat in Sunday's SPT Vegas Semi.

    More remarkably, so did the Mad Hatter.

    @heddoh18 15861 1 SPT Vegas Semi

    @THECHIMP 13196 2 SPT Vegas Semi

    @madprof 9943 3 SPT Vegas Semi

    If this is not the worst pun of the year, all year I will be very surprised I think you've out done yourself Tikay.

    The fact that Sky did a rake free tourney says a lot for the community.

    Can't say many online poker rooms would do the say.

    Impressive stuff!

    Ah, the dreaded skim read :)

    Community spirit is key right now. It's refreshing that it is at least attempted in the online world.

    Absolutely, & I'm very mindful of that. In a very small way, hopefully this Forum is helping a little.

    So interestingly, does this mean Sky Poker's main competition is Bricks and Mortar Casinos?

    @memfno

    That's an interesting thought.

    Certainly, with the B & M venues closed now, some of them will migrate across to online. But, relative to online, the number of people who play "live" poker every night in the UK & Ireland is quite small I'd guess.

    I suspect the largest influx is coming from players who can no longer socialise in the evening (pubs, sporting activities etc), plus of course the lack of sport to bet on & watch on TV must be sending some across.

    The sudden recent uptick in online poker traffic is certainly not limited to Sky Poker, or this country, it's global, & if you look at one of the sites which measures site traffic it can clearly be seen.

    As far as I am aware, Sky Poker have not been increasing promotions or advertising to bring this traffic in, that would not really be a good thing to do at this time.

    Yeah but a £20 deposit bonus if you've just lost your job would be really sweet.
