Who won what, Saturday 8th August

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 160,129

Morning.

With the heatwave continuing yesterday, & glorious sport wall to wall, numbers were always going to be a challenge, & so it proved, with 4 of the MTT's in the report missing. Mega Stack, Turbo & Quickdraw all missed by 2 entries, far from disastrous, but the Mini missed by rather more, falling 53 entries (£265) shy.

It was still a very special night though, with 2 results which were especially pleasing, as we shall see.

On we go.

£1,000 BH £1,120

£8,000 Sharpshooter Main £8,430

£3,000 Sharpshooter Mini £3,000

£1,500 Mega £1,500

£2,500 Sheriff £2,500

£2,000 Turbo £2,000

£1,500 Quickdraw £1,500

£1,500 Mid Ex £1,560

    This was the first of 2 really pleasing results last night. thisltedu, aka Donald, is genuinely one of the most likeable people you could ever wish to meet in poker, a real old-fashioned gentleman. Of late, he's been doing Zoom calls with @StayOrGo in an effort to mutually improve their game, so this win was richly deserved. It's not his biggest Sky Poker win, that was back in January 2016, but I'm fairly sure it's his 2nd best score ever. Delighted for you Donald.

    Honourable Mention to CadleyX too, who took 22 heads in a 237 entry MTT & still only finished 3rd. There must be a bad beat story or two there. He's had some terrific scores recently, with a 1st & 2nd in Gold Rush Main, an Avenger win, & the runner-up spot in Summit.

    @thisltedu 2810000 1 £1116.97 + £308.46 Head Prizes 7

    @JadedGuy 0 2 £665.97 + £268.74 Head Prizes 11

    @CadleyX 0 3 £400.43 + £345.03 Head Prizes 22

    @BrayCorp83 0 4 £316.12 + £91.76 Head Prizes 5

    @hoban01 0 5 £267.65 + £102.67 Head Prizes 4

    £3,000 Mini Sharpshooter (£3,000)

    The winner single-tabled this all the way, which must require remarkable concentration.

    Noe we come to the 2nd of last night's really pleasing scores - TVSpice running 2nd in a Mini. You might well think "so what?" but rest assured this is a very big deal to Spicey indeed. Usually, they just play £1 & £2 stuff, both MML & Forum Triple Takedown, & has been doing reasonably well of late. As a result, they decided to take the occasional shot at the Mini. This might not seem a big deal, but when you exercise careful BRM & generally play £1 & £2 stuff, the Mini is a big deal. Spicey won't mind me saying they are an out & out recreational, & this result would have meant the world. Been here a while too, certainly well over 10 years, probably 12 years, & I'm confident this result was a Personal Best by some way. As with the Main, there's a @StayOrGo connection too, as Graham set up a study group for smaller buy-in players who were looking to improve, & Spicey was in that. Graham will be chuffed to bits about both these scores & quite right too.

    @robbo343 5470000 1 £408.12 + £56.33 Head Prizes 9

    @TVSpice 0 2 £228.55 + £28.41 Head Prizes 6

    @spyant1 0 3 £134.84 + £29.54 Head Prizes 3

    No surprise here as The Bates notches another win, with The Codfather 2nd, & beefmyster, who won the £1k BH earlier, in 6th.

    This looks like a PB for evejosie20, with TIMBER in 3rd.

    5th was Mean Machine. 5th? What a failure he is. We'll have to rename him Slightly Mean Machine.

    Hi Tikay,
    Many thanks for the mention and flattery. Yes, I was really chuffed with the win.
    I wasn’t going to play last night as the weather was so nice but at the last minute decided to have a punt at a satellite for the main. The rest, as they say, is history.
    Many thanks to Graham for the help with my game. We’ve got quite different styles and although I’d like to think out sessions are mutually beneficial I know I am getting the most out of it. Having said that it is always useful to talk through hands and strategies.
    Great to see TVSpice getting a second as well.
    All the very best,
    Donald

    Lovely write up @Tikay10

    Yes, I was absolutely thrilled for both @thisltedu and @TVSpice

    Managed to rail Donald for the last hour or so, and he played brilliantly!

    It really was good to watch. He looked down and out at one stage with about 7 players left, but fought back magnificently.

    And for Sue @TVSpice to finish 2nd in a field that size, was just awesome.

    Well done to you both!

    Many thanks Teach! x I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Was sadly card dead during heads up but that's the game.

    Thank you for the lovely write up @Tikay10. I did say a while ago to both you and @StayOrGo that I had no expectations of being mentioned in this thread but wanted to improve my game. Thanks for the help and advice from you both. I still have much to learn but hopefully there are some very small green shoots appearing!
