Who won what, Tuesday 1st September

Good morning.

The overnight news on Mike Sexton was not good, it seems it is only a matter of time now.

If you want to know how revered he is in the world of poker, have a peruse of the comments in this Twitter thread; (just click the Tweet & it takes you to the thread).

A sombre start to the day.

On to last night at Sky Poker now, and it was fairly quiet, with the two big ones - Main & Summit - both narrowly missing. On top of the Naughty Step again was Midnight Express, which fell £300 short, rather too much for a £1,500 MTT.

£1,000 BH £1,200

£8,000 Gold Rush Main £8,000

£2,500 Gold Rush Mini £2,700

£1,000 Mega £1,340

£8,000 Summit £8,000

£2,000 Quickdraw £2,010

£1,500 Quickdraw £1,500

£1,500 Mid Ex £1,500

    £1,000 Bounty Hunter (£1,200)
__topcat__ got the cream in the opener, with MAXALLY having an odd tournament, in that he ran 2nd without taking a single bounty.

    4th was splashies, & there's anjie1970 again, 6th this time.

Gotta love the alias of the guy in 7th.

    £8,000 Gold Rush (£8,000)

Cracking result for AB0151, & his best result here since early 2014 if I'm not mistaken.

As chance would have it, runner-up engy, as pleasant a man as you could wish to meet, was also having a best result for some time, though in his case only a year. Nice one David.

In 3rd was a player who has a 9 letter alias containing just one vowel, the sort of thing that was a nightmare for commentators on dear old Sky Poker TV. Mention of which reminds me of a quiz I saw on Twitter yesterday.

Name the country which has the largest percentage of vowels in it's name.

Bet you £1.05 you can't answer that without the aid of google.

    @AB0151 2570000 1 £1113.35 + £443.27 Head Prizes 12

    @engy 0 2 £664.44 + £222.26 Head Prizes 9

    £2,500 Mini Gold Rush (£2,700)

mickdaw makes his results thread debut in winning the Mini.

3rd was Allan23, who might well have one of the Sharky ROI's at the levels he plays, & his graph is a thing of beauty.

    £1,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,340)

theone23 seems to be new around these parts but is making an impression already, this being his 2nd headline MTT win in a fortnight, as he took down the Mini in mid August.

    £8,000 Summit Bounty Hunter (£8,000)

The talented Hoff92 played 2 x £24 Summit satellites, won the second one, & a few hours later scooped just under £2,000.

A week ago, whitters95 was 3rd of 67 in Summit, last night he went one spot better, 2nd of 66. Be the best thing ever if there are 65 runners next week & he takes it down.

Sticky Solly was 4th with stocks 5th.

andymcbr22 does well in the late night stuff, he's now won Sheriff, Quickdraw & Mid Ex in just over a month.

alpine passed his way into 2nd, with another FT for MAXALLY, and this time he took a few bounties.

James "Whitey" Bulger would be 91 years old today if he had not been beaten to death by 4 villains in his prison cell 2 years ago. He was 89 years old & in a wheelchair so hardly in a position to put up much of a fight.

Did anyone care? That I doubt. He ruled the Boston underworld for a generation, aided by the fact he was an FBI informant & they were marking his card, & his brother was the Governor of the State of Massachusetts.

He was proven to be directly involved in the murder of 19 people, which by any standards is quite the CV, not to mention extortion, loan sharking & all sorts of nasty stuff.

He was tipped off (by the FBI) that the game was up so he fled to Santa Monica where he lived quietly for 15 years before he was eventually captured. During that time he was usually ranked number 2 in the FBI "Most Wanted Top 10", behind a chap by the name of Osama Bin Laden.

He really was the baddest meanest kid on the block. A film was made about him, "Black Mass", as well as scores of books written about him, the best of which were penned by his acolytes. If you like a good gangster book, he's your man.

Quite the villain, a gangsta gangster by any criteria.

It took me a while to get this one @Tikay10 ........ very, very good B)

I thought Fiji, Togo, then Goa (but I think that's a region of India), so Samoa, and it wasn't until I googled it and went back to the post, that I realised why you'd bet £1.05 ..... and being a Horse Racing man, I definitely should have got it much sooner ...... well done :)
