UKOPS Day 8 - who won what Friday 6th November, elderly gent takes kids to school + a UKOPS 3-timer

edited November 2020 in Poker Chat
A very good Saturday morning to you.

On a night where there were two £15,000 UKOPS events, prize pools beat guarantees by an impressive 54%. I don't think that suggests much of a Lockdown 2 boomlet, but it is a very respectable performance imo.

For the 8th straight night every UKOPS event covered it's guarantee. Can we go through the entire series without missing a single Guarantee? Proper self-bok that.

£3,000 UKOPS 45 £4,960

£15,000 UKOPS 46 £25,000

£15,000 UKOPS 47 £18,740

£5,000 UKOPS 48 £9,710

£3,000 UKOPS 49 £4,560

£4,000 UKOPS 50 £6,100

£2,000 UKOPS 51 £3,520

    UKOPS 45 £3,000 Bounty Hunter (£4,960)

    This was a spectacular result for wallfan88. Most of his play is in £1 DYM's & his average buy-in over a 3,500 game sample is just £2.28, so extracting £860 in a single MTT is a very big deal for him I suspect. Well done Mr Fan.

    It's worth noting the results of 5th placed Burger306 for a moment. In November alone, just 6 days in, he has already won UKOPS 17, Sheriff, Quickdraw & 7 @ 7. No fluke either, earlier this year in the Easter UKOPS he took down the Super High Roller for a monstrous £10,200. One to watch out for tomorrow night.

    UKOPS 46 £15,000 High Roller (£25,000)

    Well well well, Essexphil, who so nearly won the UKOPS PLO8, took the High Roller & the £7,000 first prize. There's something curiously satisfying about a portly elderly gent schooling the kids in a big buck event. That's not to denigrate Team Serious, I am in awe of every one of them, but if there were a betting market for a Sky Poker High Roller some very fancy odds on an Essexphil victory would have been on offer. He has pedigree in the Live arena too, back in 2011 he collected $35,000 in the WSOP Main. Strange that he's never mentioned that, or at least, only a few hundred times. I should not say this really, but he's been a true & loyal friend to me, so I could not be more pleased for him.

    When this UKOPS was announced, craigcu12 welcomed it, stated he'd be moving to MTT's from cash & planned to build a bankroll to play the series. Last night he laddered his way into the High Roller via the sats, starting at £10.50 & eventually winning his seat in a £48 semi, & a few hours later he trousered £1,825 for 4th place. Very well done Craig. I believe he took a bit of a horror beat from the winner too but like a proper grown-up he accepted it with good grace.

    UKOPS 47 £15,000 Rebuy B/Hunter (£18,740)

    When I watch a big rebuy on Sky Poker I never think it's going to hit guarantee, but they invariably do. This was no exception, it looked for all the world like this would fall short, but it got there easily, with 405 uniques, 370 rebuys & 162 add-ons. Not sure what the Gent who was on the Forum a few days ago worrying about £1 rebuys in a Freeroll would make of all that.

    RyanC7 graced us with his presence last night for the first time in 12 days & walked away with £3,200. It was his 2nd big UKOPs win, 4 years after taking down an Easter UKOPS MTT for £4,500. He has a whole series of 4 figure wins, at least 8 of them, so he's well handy, & it's a little surprising that we don't see more of him.

    Runner-up mkgunner is in his 13th year at Sky Poker & this was one of his best results, though he won an Avenger Main in September for slightly more than last night's £1,600.

    Solack is having a remarkable UKOPS, cashing all over the shop, & 4th here for another £900 is more than useful & will supplement his State Pension.

    @RyanC7 2198000 1 £2342.50 + £867.42 Head Prizes 16

    UKOPS 48 £5,000 Rebuy B/Hunter (£9,710)

    In a 1,000 game history on Sky Poker, the best result by Seb157 was 2nd in a Mini for £370. He exceeded that by almost £1,000 in taking down the UKOPS Rebuy Mini last night.

    @Seb157 2370000 1 £1213.75 + £214.75 Head Prizes 6

    UKOPS 49 £3,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£4,560)

    Swimmr took the Sheriff the previous night, then won UKOPS 49 last night. He's had several UKOPS cashes, so this result was probably due.

    In 2nd was roddy28, who won UKOPS 20 a few days ago & has run deep in both a £110 & £220 UKOPS this series.

    In 4th was waller02 collecting £270, his best result since winning avenger Main in September for a small fortune. Popular result, this one.

    UKOPS 50 £4,000 Bounty Hunter (£6,100)

    I'm not sure why I am so pleased to see a chap who ever so gently & with a genial smile took my pants down big time when I sat next to him in an SPT, especially as I had possy on him, but I am. Well done Blair, think this is your best result of 2020 by some distance.

    UKOPS 51 £2,000 Hyper Bounty Hunter (£3,520)

    Goodness me, this makes a hat-trick of UKOPS wins in this series for Sticky Solly, with wins in UKOPS 26, 38 & 51. He ran 4th in last night's UKOPS Main for around £900 too. If I could build a spreadsheet I could keep track of these things better, but I'm pretty sure he's the first player to win a hat-trick of UKOPs in the current series.

    Thanks for all these write ups Teeks, I always read even if I rarely post these days. I get very emotional at all your generous tributes.
    Just to point out here that if I am at State Pension Age then you must Britain's oldest person, or maybe you rare anyway :)
    Keep taking the Sanatogen!

    @SoLack

    Whoops, edited now. It's an age thing, though I guess you'd know all about that.

    GL tonight & tomorrow mate. Win another & I'll forgive you for that atrocious call in that SPT Sidey 11 years ago.

    Thanks TK.
    I am loving the deep stack part of UKOPS very well. It was a sickening hand but I'd rather exit that way than exit through bad play of my own.

    100% agree, it always feels better when we get it in good & lose than getting it in bad. As long as I make the correct play losing the hand never bothers me.

    Thanks for the comments-especially the slightly insulting ones. Always the cherry on the cake of a deep run.

    Thanks also to the rail heads up, which helped a tired old man regain focus, against a clearly superior heads up opponent. And apologies to those I robbed, particularly @craigcu12

    Seriously, they are the best bit about the site, never mind just the write-ups.
    Closely followed by the community spirit on here and your excruciating puns.

    Keep well, matey-and play the PLO8 next time.

    PS-last night was nearly a great night. I was 10th in the Main, too ;)
