'Driving will become a privilege for the wealthy': Warning PM's decision to ban petrol and diesel cars by 2030 as part of green push will punish motorists who can't afford electric cars - and leave a £40BILLION black hole in tax revenues

Boris Johnson is facing a backlash after he unveiled a new environment plan, including introducing the curbs a decade earlier than originally planned. Mr Johnson is heralding a 'green industrial revolution' as he launches a ten-point, £12billion plan for the environment, saying it could create 250,000 jobs and slash the country's carbon emissions. It includes further investment in nuclear power, wind energy, domestic heating and cutting-edge technology such as carbon capture and storage. However, with electric vehicles costing far more than conventional models, there are fears the push will hit the poor. Car firms warned that moving too quickly risks turning driving into a 'privilege for the wealthy'. And a leading economist cautioned that the switch will put £40billion in road taxes at risk because electric vehicles are exempt.

Hmm, not sure about electric blah blah.

Firstly and foremostly whilst its nice to save the enviroment, it's so much better to save oneself.

As a biker I'm often told by drivers "Sorry mate I didn't see you".

Answer, run the loudest exhaust legally permissable. Trust me it does get you noticed.

Secondly, it makes absolutely naff all difference to the big picture what the U. K. does. Until China and India and all the developing nations actually put ecology before economy anything we do is like a child collecting old cans for recycling.

It looks good and makes you feel nice but in reality its a waste of time and effort.

Oh and as a side note, when the batteries reach the end of their life what do we do then?, surely another eco problem for the future.

Finally are the huge oil companies and the mega trillionaire oil field owners just going to sit back and watch?

Clearly the Dishevelled **** Dastardly of politics and his faithful sidekick Princess Nut Nut are fast losing the plot along with the country.
