Inside the crazy court of Queen Carrie: Boris's fiancee tried to stop covid meeting so he would battle fake story about her DOG - then he broke rules to appoint new PR Allegra in case lover went 'effing crackers'
Claims say Boris Johnson appointed Allegra Stratton to appease Carrie Symonds
Come after Dominic Cummings and communications chief Lee Cain left No 10
Aides left after seemingly having lost a power struggle with Miss Symonds and allies

The civil war in Downing Street after the ousting of two top aides took another dramatic turn last night as a flurry of astonishing new claims emerged.

Among them was the suggestion that Boris Johnson appointed his new press secretary – former BBC and ITV journalist Allegra Stratton – to appease fiancee Carrie Symonds and prevent her from 'going f****** crackers'.

The shocking allegations came after a weekend in which Downing Street's dirty laundry was aired for all to see, with the infighting that led to the departure of Dominic Cummings and communications chief Lee Cain laid bare.

The influential aides both left No 10 on Friday, seemingly having lost a power struggle with Miss Symonds and her allies.

Among the slew of allegations was the suggestion that Boris Johnson appointed his new TV spokesman to appease fiancee Carrie Symonds (pictured together outside No. 10)

The war of words, played out in claim and counter-claim, has cast a shadow over Mr Johnson's leadership at a time when the country should be focused on fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Downing Street has been braced for a series of 'revenge' stories since Mr Cummings and Mr Cain left, given their inside knowledge of the corridors of power.

Friends of Miss Symonds hailed her for ending the 'macho culture' within No 10, denied claims that Mr Johnson was 'running government by girlfriend' and accused detractors of 'rank misogyny'.

She has been dragged into infighting as part of a smear campaign, angry allies said. But last night insiders showed no sign of letting the bitter row drop with a number of breathtaking new claims.

Most extraordinary of all was the allegation that, as mistrust circled among those closest to the PM, discussions were even held in which one official suggested that top secret information should be kept from Mr Johnson's red box – the Government briefcases used by all ministers.
The notion was reportedly floated in response to concern that some 'non-sensitive' issues in his red box had been mysteriously leaked.
There is no suggestion that Miss Symonds was involved.

Downing Street also last night angrily rebuffed the claim, saying it was 'categorically untrue'. Miss Symonds did not respond to a request for a comment.

Insiders said the acrimony between Miss Symonds and Mr Cummings and Mr Cain was obvious as far back as March.

It was then that she allegedly tried to stop the Prime Minister hosting a Covid crisis meeting to deal instead with a newspaper report claiming she wanted to get rid of their beloved Jack Russell cross Dilyn.

Mr Cummings 'forced' Mr Johnson to overrule his fiancee, it was claimed. He told No 10 officials to block any phone calls from Miss Symonds to the Prime Minister about the dog, it was claimed.

And he gave orders for Miss Symonds' official protest about the news report about Dilyn to be 'burned'.

Miss Symonds was said to be livid at a report in The Times which claimed that she no longer liked the animal.

The former BBC and ITV journalist Allegra Stratton is pictured departing Downing Street

She went on Twitter to denounce it, saying: 'Total load of c***. There has never been a happier, healthier and more loved dog than Dilyn.'

The dispute with Mr Cummings and Mr Cain flared when Miss Symonds apparently asked Mr Cain to make a formal complaint to The Times via the press watchdog, IPSO.

He refused to do so, pointing out that a Covid crisis meeting was about to take place in No 10 that day. Miss Symonds is understood to have contacted officials in Mr Johnson's office and told them to scrap the coronavirus meeting because she wanted the Prime Minister to help her pursue her complaint with The Times.

When Mr Cummings found out, sources said, he stormed in to Mr Johnson's office and told him to go ahead with the meeting – which took place as planned.

An insider claimed: 'We were dealing with the extraordinary chaos of Covid, and Carrie f***** the (PM's Downing Street) private office up for a whole day. All over something trivial about her dog.

'She went bananas and spent the day on the phone to officials and the PM trying to force the Government machine to IPSO (send a formal complaint to the watchdog) The Times over it.'

This weekend the departure of Mr Cummings and Mr Cain was welcomed by many Tory MPs who believed volatile Mr Cummings had become too powerful.

Mr Johnson was furious at claims that Miss Symonds' Tory foes have dubbed his fiancee and mother of his son 'Princess Nut Nut'

But many senior Conservatives have voiced concern at the apparent level of influence Miss Symonds has over Mr Johnson both politically and personally.

Miss Symonds, former head of Tory communications, has strong views on issues from the environment to early parole for rapists.

A close ally of Miss Symonds said: 'Surely it is in the Prime Minister's interest that he hears from a range of people.

'What man wouldn't ask their informed partner for their opinion on something to do with work?' But a No 10 figure claimed Miss Symonds 'bombards [Mr Johnson] with texts and everyone in Downing Street knows about their rows.

The shocking allegations came after the departure of Dominic Cummings and communications chief Lee Cain

'I used to get angry with him for letting her get away with it, but now I just feel sorry. He looks very unhappy. It is as though she has taken him hostage. It cannot go on because it is terrible for our country.'

The appointment of Allegra Stratton as Mr Johnson's official No 10 TV spokesman was a key factor in the turmoil that has engulfed the top of Government.

Insiders say that the Whitehall interview panel in charge of the appointment recommended another candidate.

However, Mr Johnson allegedly said: 'Forget the process. I am giving the job to Allegra. I've got to do this because if I don't, Carrie will go f****** crackers about it.'

An official said: 'Allegra didn't even know about Carrie's intervention. But it could rebound on him (Johnson). The Whitehall paper trail will show the truth; that he went totally against the official recommendation of the interview panel – and he will have to explain why.'

Tory critics of Miss Symonds claim her allies are now gunning for Chancellor Rishi Sunak because he 'does not let outsiders interfere' in the Treasury.

They say she has urged Mr Johnson to recall Mr Sunak's predecessor Sajid Javid. Miss Symonds is a former aide to Mr Javid, and the two have remained close allies.

A source said: 'Rishi won't put up with outside interference and insists things are done by the book. She wants Javid back as a counter to Rishi.

Tory MPs are celebrating Cummings' and Cain's downfall but they may think again when they see how this has been manipulated by Carrie who has an agenda no one voted for.'

Mr Cummings told the Mail last night: 'I've nothing bad to say about Carrie, I wish her well.'

CARRIE Symonds was cruelly nicknamed Princess Nut Nut behind her back for months, it was claimed today.

Boris Johnson's fiancée was referred so often to by the moniker that allies of Dominic Cummings reportedly even started using an emoji of a princess followed by peanuts instead of using her name in texts.

Another nickname reportedly used for Ms Symonds by those in the Brexit lads group was "Cersei" - a reference to the controlling Game of Thrones character.

Meanwhile allies of Dominic Cummings claimed Ms Symonds had been using her "first lady" role to become a modern-day Princess Diana.

They believe her desire for the public spotlight ignited the row which led to the PM losing his most senior aide.

Close pals of Cummings accused Boris Johnson’s fiancée of running her own personal fiefdom inside 10 Downing Street.

One said: “She’s having more and more influence in decision making, as the week has shown. She’s not content with being the power behind the throne, she wants to sit on it.

“Carrie wants to be a new Princess Di character. She’s already got her own spin doctor and own team of people and seems to think she is the most important person in No 10.

“It’s all about the court of Carrie. She’s not helping Boris at all. Everything she does is about her and not him.”

    How this Govt works:

-Put lies on side of a bus
    -Treat Parliament with contempt
-Break rules and charge around country during pandemic
    -Brief against Ministers

    Nothing happens

-Call PM’s partner ‘Princess Nut Nuts’

    You’re out

The gossip-hungry stalwarts of the UK media delivered on that promise with miles of column inches detailing blazing rows, tantrums and teary breakdowns.

The Sunday Times characterized the bust-up as “Four dinners and a political funeral.” The paper reported that, during one meal, Johnson was persuaded by his fiancee, Carrie Symonds, and his new press secretary, Allegra Stratton, to ditch his Brexit “buccaneer” persona and revert to being the “consensual figure” who was twice elected mayor of London.

Sources also told the Times that Symonds calls Johnson’s private office “more than 20 times a day demanding that he leave meetings to call her back.”

Another meal saw Johnson cook sausages and mashed potato with his now-outgoing director of communications Lee Cain. The prime minister reportedly told Cain to remember his “duty” to the country and urged him to stay with him through the coronavirus crisis.

The Sun on Sunday has a different version of events for what transpired during the “tasty” lunch. Under the headline “Bangers ‘n’ clash,” it reported that Johnson offered Cain the position of chief of staff. However, it ended in a “squabble” after Symonds accused Cain of orchestrating a smear campaign against her. The Sun said Cain had his sausages and was “kicked out for telling porkies.”

Similar reports are carried in the Sunday Mirror, which says Johnson’s relationship with Cain and Cummings was irreparably damaged when it emerged that the Cummings’ faction in Number 10 used the phrase “Princess Nut Nuts” as a “cruel nickname” for Johnson’s fiancee.

When the prime minister learned of the gag, he is said to have “flipped.” The paper emblazoned the nickname on its frontpage.

The Mail on Sunday cast a caustic eye over the week’s dramatic events. “What a way to run the country,” it said as it offered a breakdown of the “hatreds, tears and tantrums.”

Fleet Street also turned its attention to Stratton, who is widely reported to be an ally of Symonds. Friends of the ex-BBC journalist told the Observer that Downing Street’s new press secretary spent Saturday morning in tears because she believes Cain told “numerous journalists” that she was not the first choice for the role.
Stratton, who was appointed last month, was also forced to defend her Conservative credentials. She has told the Sunday Telegraph that despite previously voting for Labour, the Green Party and the Liberal Democrats, she backed Brexit and labeled herself “a Johnson Tory.”

RICHARD LITTLEJOHN: Cummings deserved better than being dumped on the whim of an unelected consort. Boris has lost it big time, caved into a needy lover half his age and relocated his brains to where a squirrel keeps his Nut Nuts

RICHARD LITTLEJOHN: The headline in the Mail on Sunday just about summed it all up: 'It's Nut Nut not Nut Nuts!' Eh? I'm sorry, just run that by me again. Apparently, Boris Johnson's girlfriend (left) is known disparagingly as 'Princess Nut Nut' not 'Princess Nut Nuts', writes our political editor. On social media, 'allies of Dominic Cummings' (right) use emojis (nope, me neither) to portray Carrie Anne Symonds as a cartoon princess accompanied by peanuts (inset). Hence, Princess Nut Nut. How old are these people - three? In terms of nursery school playground abuse, they might just as well have called her Princess Wee Wee.

As Westminster insider, journalist Dan Hodges puts it:

‘[Dominic Cummings’s] Brexiteers who have controlled the political agenda since 2016 have been unceremoniously evicted from Downing Street. The strategy that brought Boris his stunning 80-seat majority less than 12 months ago has been ditched. In short, a spectacular coup has been mounted at the heart of Government – one led not by Cabinet Ministers or MPs, but by the Prime Minister’s own partner.

The Carrie Coup was clinical and ruthless. According to No 10 insiders, after months of drift, Boris’s senior aides gave him a blueprint for the reorganisation of his No 10 operation. At dinner over Chequers three weeks ago, it was signed off. But once the guests had departed, Ms Symonds tore it apart. Boris meekly binned the plan.’

Naturally, Conservative MPs are now divided between wet, cringing loyalists on board with the green agenda and those who are beginning to realise, rather too late, that their party is beginning more closely to resemble the Liberal Democrats or the Greens.

One anonymous MP quoted by Hodges puts it bluntly:

‘The Dom Cummings era is over. But if we’re going to replace it with the Carrie Symonds era, we’re f*****. The environment. Transgender rights. If that’s what we’re going to be about our coalition is going to fall apart. It’s not what our voters want to hear. We’re going to lose a lot of seats.’

While this may be true, voters won’t have any say in the matter till the General Election of 2024, giving Princess Nut Nut and her cabal of acolytes in Westminster more than enough time to wreak havoc with their ‘green revolution.’

Lest anyone doubt the connection between Princess Nut Nut’s green revolution and the sinister-sounding but very real Great Reset being pushed by the World Economic Forum, the links are made clear on the Conservatives official Twitter feed.

It says in its strapline #BuildBackBetter which is the campaign slogan of the Great Reset – the long-running scheme by Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, to steer the world’s governments towards a ‘fourth industrial revolution‘ leading to the Great Reset.

Under new management: is Carrie Symonds the real power at No 10?

There could only be one winner. Shimmying across her office rooftop while miming valiantly to a Taylor Swift song, the new Tory MP Dehenna Davison beat a strong performance from veteran London politician Andrew Boff (resplendent in full drag and feather boa) to win the LGBT+ Conservative group’s virtual lip sync battle last month.

And laughing along over Zoom from her living room, her rescue dog Dilyn barking in the background, was Carrie Symonds. The prime minister’s 32-year-old fiancee not only judged the virtual fundraiser in aid of LGBT+ candidates but persuaded her partner to join her briefly on camera. Gone, apparently, was the Boris Johnson who wrote of “tank-topped bumboys” in a 1998 newspaper column. The one who, as London’s mayor, once wore a pink Stetson for Pride is back.

It’s been a rollercoaster few weeks for Symonds, who has seen her nemesis, Dominic Cummings, and his sidekick, Lee Cain, expunged from Downing Street, but at some personal cost. She has been painted as the needy, manipulative queen in Boris’s court – “Princess Nut Nut”, as the Cummings camp dubbed her – whose liberal views on trans rights or green issues will supposedly cost him seats. To her critics, she’s no innocent bystander in the war raging now around the prime minister, but an active combatant. “She toxifies pretty much every scenario she’s in, although the trouble is that she’s one of the most charming people that you’ll ever meet,” says a former adviser who worked closely with her.
But, like Hardwick, some worry now about the implications of someone who isn’t answerable to party or public calling the shots. “Someone who is even less accountable than Dominic Cummings should not be the one who can take the decisions,” says a Tory insider. Others predict trouble ahead, pointing out that Stratton, Symonds and Mirza all have different agendas, which may clash in the absence of a clear lead from the prime minister. One early test of where power lies will be the coming cabinet reshuffle, with some MPs already concluding that befriending her is key to promotion.

As one Tory source groaned: “All the ambitious wives of chinless wonders are making a beeline for Carrie now.”
