Who won what, Sunday 16th May - pacman wins the Sunday Major again

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 158,807

Morning.

MTT numbers continue to be surprisingly resilient and last night they came in near identical w-o-w. The big test of course is going forward, as the most severe Lockdown restrictions are eased considerably as & from today. That's bound to affect online poker traffic. Hopefully, nobody will complain, the slow steps to normality are what we all desperately need, against which poker traffic is of no consequence. "Live" poker restarts today too, though with plexi-glass dividers & mandatory masks, I'm not at all sure how much fun it will be.

Yesterday's sport had two highlights for me. First up, Jack Miller won a thrilling French Moto GP, despite not one but TWO Long Lap Penalties. One of the most thrilling & incident-filled Moto GP's I've ever seen. This weekend's F1 GP in Monte Carlo won't lack hype, but will struggle to be one tenth as exciting.

The other highlight was extraordinary. Liverpool were in desperate trouble when, in one of those fairy-tale endings, the goalkeeper, Alisson Becker came up for a Liverpool corner & headed it in with great aplomb. Wait though, that's not it. We've all seen a thousand post-match interviews with footballers. Banal questions, banal answers, bla bla bla. This was different. Very different. What a lovely man he is. (I should add, Alisson's father died recently in a horrible accident). I do hope you can spare a few minutes to look at the interview he gave afterwards.

7 @ 7 went to RStinson97. He' had a decent 2020, winning, amongst others, a Gold Rush Main and a Mini Avenger.

Karlluke was 5th, in addition to winning (another?) SPT seat with yobbie 6th.

    £6,000 Bounty Hunter (£7,290)

lyonsbob took the £6,000 BH, certainly his best result since he took down a Marksman Main last Autumn. He's a fun guy, & has been on various overseas trips with Sky Poker, including both Punta Cana & Las Vegas. In the photo below, taken in Punta Cana in 2016, he's the handsome one.

Runner-up was Arrogant, who had a good night on Saturday too, with 2Geronimo in 5th.

    £15,000 Sunday Major (£16,900)

pacman821 took the Sunday Major on the last day of February, & won it again last night. He's an awkward-shaped box with pointy elbows, (bit of an ungainly mixed metaphor there...) but clearly an exceptional talent, with plenty of big results on his CV.

2nd was grinddd, who has booked wins in Main, Mega & Turbo in recent months.

BeachBody is in top form, he won both Mega & Quicky on the same night recently.

miniman (4th) had several decent scores last week & seems to be running into form.

Yesterday's description of Elvis Costello as "dire" seems to have ruffled a few feathers.

He may be dire, but he's certainly not the worst music act to emerge in recent years.

The Smiths & Morrisey would surely top that list by a very long way.

The interview was very moving and articulate. Especially when you consider it was given in English, his second language. It must also be remembered that Klopp lost his Mother just a few weeks earlier and also wasn't able to attend the funeral. I think they were both hanging on to each other emotionally at the end of the game. You would have to have a very hard heart not to be moved by the scenes after the goal, at the end of the match and following both interviews.

    @TVSpice

Agree with every word of that, & I'm glad it was not just me that thought the interview was very special indeed.

It just goes to show that, when you take everything into account, Liverpool Football Club are, by some distance, literally the greatest sports club in all of history.

    Great header, great interview

But big team bias when talking about it being the best ever keeper header
Derby legend Pooms header for Sunderland shitts all over Allison’s header tbf
Of course it was against Derby :)

I've just started playing again after a few year's absence and really enjoying my poker again. Playing quite well too.

9th in the mini major again and for the second time in a row went out defending my BB after the SB had raised with AA

I really should have just re-raised and not gone all in on Sunday. He/she (I think it was @blue4life ) would have pushed after that and I would have got off the K,10 I had and still had enough of a stack to play with. Lesson learned.

Looking forward to playing a few more MTTs this week.
