Who won what, Wednesday 21st July - newdaddy at the double

Afternoon.

The heatwave continues apace, & so that perhaps helps explain the threadbare numbers last night. The heat is too much for most of us, & for me, the sooner it cools down a little the better.

Yesterday saw the birth of "Hundred" cricket. If you thought the TV coverage of Darts was awful, wait until you see this. It's Gimmick & Hype City, with pyrotechnics, bells & whistles galore, and more montages than enough. All the MSM say it's wonderful, almost as if they've been asked to be nice about it. Last night's first ever Hundred game was a women's one, & they had record crowds for a women's domestic cricket match, though most of the seats were given away as freebies. The match was shown live both on BBC & Sky Sports, which in itself is a very odd thing. No disrespect, but it's not exactly the World Cup Final or Olympics. I started watching on BBC but the moment Phil Tuffnell started commentating I snap clicked the zapper to watch it on Sky Sports instead. The on-screen-graphics (see photo below) were enough to give anyone a migraine - & both channels had identical graphics. Tonight sees the first male version. If you can get even money on "Hundred" cricket winning the World Championship of Dumbing Down, bet the shop. By way of adding some balance, I'm sure children under the age of 5 will enjoy it.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£812)

midnightma had a decent day, running 2nd in MidEx 20 hours earlier & then winning 7 @ 7. Won an All-In satellite to the Main for just £1.80 too.

Runner-up was miniman, who I had thought might be down at The Vic playing the GUKPT.

On Tuesday Brrrrrr won a £1.80 All-In satellite to the Main & finished 5th for £270, and he was fifth in this too, though for rather less.

    £1,000 Bounty Hunter (£1,000)

Good to see IamAll-En doing well here again. Earlier this year he won a UKOPS for £2,000 & a Sunday Major for £5,000 within the space of 3 days. He's been quiet since, probably playing away from home, but he took last night's £1k BH from 46229, aka Duchess Of Hamilton.

Quite a tough renewal this, in addition to IamAll_En taking the win, Arrogant was 3rd & bigfatfish 4th.

Congrats also to NOSTRI, he won Reload 48 hours earlier but this was a much sterner test, & he was far from disgraced.

The Mini only beat guarantee by £5 last night - that's one entry. Never in doubt.

ozzieowen, who has twice made the Quickdraw final inn the last week, took it down, with lMARKl fifth & TommyD bringing up the rear.

What a FT this was, with newdaddy getting the trophy & having to beat poker royalty to get the win, with Monty15, Dog Bloke & Mr Channing all in attendance. I got the distinct impression yesterday that Mr C is not a fan of Laura Kuenssberg, though I'm only reading between the lines.

In May of this year Peterka8 had their best ever result when winning a Mini, & followed up last night by taking Reload.

This completed a splendid double for newdaddy. He'd already won Sheriff, & now added Turbo.

Not an easy Final either, with excellent players such as heddoh, lolufold, Collabo, DUTCHESS & BooBoo all on the FT.

    £1,000 Quickdraw (£1,000)

darsh11 was seriously busy last night, playing over 100 DYM's & MTT's in the session. Most, of course, were DYM's but a Quickdraw win certainly boosted the returns.

Monty15 & ozzieowen (2nbd & 5th) both made it three final tables in the session.

Winning both Sheriff & Turbo the same night is a very rare accomplishment, so today's POTD is.....

I was very pleasantly surprised to see such a positive reaction to Radiohead yesterday, so here's another excellent offering from their early days. Don't ask me to explain what's going on in the video though, as I've no idea. Just like a good tune, me.

It could catch on. I still smile when I think of The Radioheads even nearly 30 years on. I was probably harsher on him than deserved as The Radioheads were right at the start of their trip to the top at the time.

As an aside, he left work many years ago to tackle all the munros, and I heard he had finished them all. Anyway I just looked him up, and he is niche famous in the World of Simm bagging it seems. I don't know if niche famous is a thing, but it should be. Given there are 2,500 of them and only 365 days in the year, then he must have spent a serious amount of time walking over the last few years. A Simm is a hill over 600m high with a drop of 30m on all sides. Guess you get there when you have done the Corbetts and the rest.

I am currently on zero munros so have some catching up to do.

I had to look "Simm Bagging" up.

No idea how I've been around as long as I have & yet knew nothing of that.

I don't think you need to be worried, I hadn't heard of them until a few hours ago.

and can't see me ever completing the Marilyns either. Maybe 30 years ago I'd have a go.

To be fair, you are a little too old for music by The Radioheads.
