Who won what, Saturday 24th July - Arrogant in fine form again

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 160,319

Morning.

Numbers were broadly similar to last Saturday, with the Main missing, but only by one entry, so I guess Sky Poker will survive.

In sport, the undoubted highlight of the day was in Rugby Union, where the Lions overturned a nine point deficit at half time to win a thrilling match 22-17. Oh my, those boys are as tough as teak. I'm not an expert on RU - well I'm not an expert on anything actually - but what a delight it was to watch Maro Itoje. Oh my, those boys are tough and brave. The second test is next Saturday, make a note in your diary.

As usual on a Sunday, will have to rattle through this sharpish today.

whitters95 ran 8th in the Major last Sunday & had not been seen since, then turned up last night & took this down. whitters has been quiet of late but finished 2020 in a blaze of glory, winning a Summit (£1,900), an Avenger Main (£2,600), and 2nd in UKOPS 03 (£2,700) all within the space of three weeks just before the year-end.

3rd was neenio, then Mr Bates, scotty & Crushy.

    £6,000 Sharpshooter (£6,000)

MStott won a UKOPS during last year's Boomlet & collected over £4,000. Last night's Main was worth a rather more modest £1,000 to the winner but even so, it's more than handy.

MStott & FlynTimber aside, not too many familiar faces on this FT.

    £2,000 Mini Sharpshooter (£2,240)

spearsy, who won the MML a couple of weeks ago, had a terrific night, winning a Rebuy BH for £236, then taking the Mini for £335, & then running 2nd in Sheriff for over £300. Very nice.

tonyp has not been running too well for a month or so, but 3rd here perhaps marks a turning point for him.

    £1,500 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£1,700)

What a FT this was, with our friend Arrogant booking the win, ahead of Mini winner spearsy.

Mr Channing would have had a very busy day on the horses, there was some top class racing yesterday, & when it was all done he relaxed by playing a little poker & running 3rd here. In years gone by he'd have been at The Vic playing the big GUKPT Festival, but I suspect he'll be taking the cautious approach & swerving live poker until this Virus is under control. Very wise, imo.

    MattBates & SwannLol took 5th & 6th.

    £1,500 Reload Rebuy B/Hunter (£1,728)

DGO2020 makes their Results Thread debut with a Reload win, though they seem to have very limited MTT history here, so maybe they are new to Sky Poker.

    £1,500 Turbo Bounty Hunter (£1,500)

Double wins are in vogue of late, & not for the first time recently Arrogant secured a big double, winning both Sheriff & Turbo. He's won the Sunday Major twice recently too. What an absolute beast.

2nd was ozzie, with £1k BH winner whitters 5th & our Rose picking up some loose change in 6th.

    £1,000 Midnight Express B/Hunter (£1,460)

MidEx fell to longjob, who we are more used to seeing win Quickdraw.

1st in Sheriff, 1st in Turbo, 2nd in Quickdraw & 6th in Mega, that's more than enough to win POTD yet again.

Two years ago today Peter Green passed away. It was probably a merciful release, as he was not a well man for much of his life. He was a guitarist & a half though, known mainly for the all-too-short time he spent with Fleetwood Mac.

Here he is with an acoustic version of Albatross.

I was following news from the GUKPT and saw lots of familiar faces. They took the screens down there on Monday. Seemed a bold move to me, can't say I fancy putting my life in the hands of some of he people who never wash their hands in that place.

Can't say I am in a rush to play live. They have had the biggest GUKPT ever, following that massive 10K at the Wynn. Good luck to all those that attended.

An immensely talented blues musician, he claimed to have only taken drugs a handful of times yet a bad reaction ruined his life for decades and he never fully recovered. Hopefully I will be seeing Rumours of Fleetwood Mac live in a month of so. As well as the more well known FM tracks they also do the early blues material, and they do it all brilliantly. If any of you are FM fans get along to see Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, they really are very, very good.

    If you are a big FM fan, this is a great documentary that gets repeated periodically on Sky Arts;

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1436446/

Excellent, thoroughly researched documentary for music fans.
This wonderful documentary on one of the all-time guitar greats also highlights what a great song writer and vocalist Peter Green was, and the tragedy of mental illness that cut him down in his prime. It features lots of footage of Green and Fleetwood Mac, intercut with interviews by band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Jeremy Spencer, as well as Green himself. Carlos Santana, Noel Gallagher, John Mayall and other industry insiders attest to Green's greatness and provide fascinating on-the-spot accounts of the times.

I saw Peter Green play live just a few years ago, when he was a shadow of his former self, but this documentary shows what all the fuss was about - his soulful understated guitar phrasing, the unique musical style he developed, and his classic songs like Black Magic Woman, Albatross and Oh Well.
