Who won what, Friday 17th September - PRhack takes BWBH, & Avenger goes to ozzie

Morning.

Numbers were quite sprightly last night, especially the later night stuff, much of which enjoyed their highest numbers for some weeks.

In sport the headline was Derby County going into administration. Or, in plain English, they are busto. Whilst I have a soft spot for Derby, I have zero sympathy for the Club, or the many others that are in similar sinking boats. Like all of us, they need to "cut their cloth". I had a look at their staff roster & it includes;

Manager

Assistant Manager

Head Goalkeeping Coach

First Team Development Coach

Academy Director

Head of Performance

First Team Fitness Coach

Head Physiotherapist

First Team Physiotherapist

And we have not even started on kit men, travelling costs, first class hotels & so on.

Get rid of most of them for starters, that would save a good few milly. And players wages, even in the Champo, are obscene. Halve their wages. And Wayne Rooney - with whom I have no axe to grind - reportedly earns around £5 million per year. Has he been a success as a Manager? Absolutely not. Why pay someone £5 million per year to be a failure? Pretty sure they could pay someone half a milly per year & still fail. Much better value.

Honestly, it's hard to have an iota of sympathy when football clubs set fire to money the way they do.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£861)

    n04k1ngway, sixth in the £1k BH the previous evening, took the opener. Bet he's proud of that alias.

    PKRPar was 3rd. He played this, BWBH, Main & Mini, drawing blanks in all except 7 @ 7, but he got a few bob back when winning a £1,000 BH that went off at 9.30pm & earned him around £235.

    Rstinson97, who won Sharpshooter Main last Saturday, was 6th.

    £6,000 Big Weekend Bounty Hunter (£7,500)

    PRhack93 won BWBH for the 2nd time in 2 months, in which period he also finished runner-up once. He's also won two Mains - Avenger & Marksman - in the same period. No wonder his Sharky graph is near vertical.

    NIHIGHGUN earned £1,075 in 2nd, & as he only played this & the Main, that was a very profitable night.

    markycash-bang-wallop continued to amuse & bemuse, 4th here & 5th in the Sheriff.

    whitters95 was 6th. does well in £100 MTT's here, with runner-up spots in Summit (twice) & Sunday Major in recent months.

    £8,000 Avenger Rebuy B/Hunter (£8,420)

    A rare double for ozzieowen, who has now won both Avengers - Main & Mini - in the last 3 weeks.

    Playing his first MTT's (here) for a week, chrisdonkb was 2nd, with BooBoo in 5th.

    In 6th was x34, his previous 5 MTT's were all Reward Freerolls, so I'd assume that £365 is a very welcome bink.

    £4,000 Mini Avenger Rebuy B/Hunter (£4,495)

    The Mini fell to chapperman. Has a long & successful history on Sky Poker, won a £100 MTT back in 2012 for no less than £8,450, & was a runner-up in the old Super Roller in 2014. In all the years they have been here this was their first Mini win.

    Shrimpy was 2nd, & in fact he was within touching distance of the FTJ, as he was 13th in the Main.

    In 5th was PBKR, who was in good shape to win it until he got consumed by a feral Shrimp.

    £1,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,500)

    RobRenbzi enjoyed his best result for a very long time in taking Mega.

    6th in the 7 @ 7, Rstinson97 did rather better here, 2nd, with Coach Collabo in 3rd.

    £1,500 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£2,100)

    The biggest Sheriff prize pool for a month, so great timing by KLL-y to take it, with roddy 2nd & Sharkio 3rd.

    markycash, 4th in the BWBH, was 5th. That boy run is running so hot.

    £1,500 Turbo Bounty Hunter (£1,890)

    Turbo went to Gambelo, who won Sheriff earlier this month. Very good player.

    Crushy had a thin night by his standards, 5th in Reload, 4th in Quicky & runner-up here.

    In 3rd was RogueCell, so that gives me chance to wish her a belated happy birthday, I believe it was earlier this week. She's a proper Virgo.

    £1,000 Quickdraw (£1,880)

    A remarkably hot Quickdraw, with f3nix35 grabbing the win. I'm assuming he will have to miss this year's WSOP, travel restrictions being what they are.

    2nd was StayOrGo, 4th Crushy & 6th skyflyer.

    @f3nix35 240000 1 £329 + £380.26 Head Prizes 12

    £1,000 Midnight Express B/Hunter (£1,500)

    neenio enjoys MidEx, in the last 6 nights he has finished 3rd, 4th & now 1st.

    Super-nit The--Don does well in MidEx too, in the last 5 weeks he's won it twice & was 3rd here. Considering his very limited abilities, that's some going.

    @neenio 225000 1 £217.50 + £143.63 Head Prizes 7

    @ReyRey14 0 2 £142.50 + £65.74 Head Prizes 6

    In other news...

    Not much to report today, so here's a fun hand from way back, in which we see a tortured Luke Schwartz, who just knows he's dug himself into a hole.

    Watched a Genesis documentary last night, filming rehearsals for their reunion tour.

    Quite a shock to see Phil Collins can barely walk now, & has to sit down to sing. Kind of wish I'd not seen it to be honest.

    Phil was both the most loved & most hated pop star in his day. Boy oh boy he made some money though. Think he is one of only three artistes to sell 100 million records both as a band member & solo performer. The other two were Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney, which says something.

    I agree with most of that. We’ve got what we deserved

    I’m no big Rooney fan although i think he’s handled the situation pretty well
    I think you’re harsh on him. He can’t be judged as a Manager given what he’s had to deal with at Derby.
    I think you’re a bit out on his salary too
    It’s still an insane amount of money that he and others are earning though

    @Jac35

    I'm a fan of Rooney, & he's done his best in difficult circumstances, but he's a "Trophy Manager" which is a luxury DCFC can't afford. Even if he's only earning half of what is widely rumoured, it's still way more than the club can afford or justify.

    A "Head Physio" AND a "First Team Physio?" Huh? Goalkeeping coach?

    Costs have to be cut so that they don't exceed income, it's that simple.

    Costs should have been cut a long time ago and yes, you’re right, a big name manager is ridiculous right now. Mel likes to rub shoulders with the stars

    You’ve forgotten that we have a Director of Football too :) Steve McClaren. He’s been taken out of the picture by Rooney as well so goodness knows what he actually does

    In fairness i doubt there are many clubs who don’t have a Goalkeeping coach
  • Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 158,806

    I agree, most "big" clubs have a Goalkeeping Coach, but DCFC can't afford it right now. How much does he cost & what does he do all week?

    I shudder to think what McLaren costs & what he actually does. It is, as you say, Mel being fixated by "big names".

    A director of Football is supposed to oversee the footballing operations - consistentcy between managers and focus on the transfer policy of the club - i can imagine outwith helping our the coaching staff putting bibs and cones out at training theres much need for a DoF at DCFC.

    £5m a year - to compare and i know theres more money in england that scotland, but Gerrard who has a similar managerial cv before joining is on 2.5m a year at Rangers - thats his 3rd/4th contract aswell. I believe Brendan Rogers going from Liverpool to Celtic in only manager this side of the border to earn more at around 4m per year. 5m sounds bonkers to me.

    That said i do feel alot for DCFC fans
