WSOP waffle, news, goss & Tweets, Day 9

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 159,766

We'll start with the updates & results, then do a few fun (?) Tweets.

These threads are really not getting enough views to make it worthwhile, they take ages to do, but I'll persevere a little longer.

If you have any suggestions to make them more popular, I'm all ears.

Thank you.

39 were paid, but there was not a brit to be seen. Sounds bad, but the truth is it is almost impossible for Brits to travel to the States at present. A few have made it, either via Mexico or Canada, & in some cases because they live there. Without the Brits & Europeans, the Series is seriously devalued imo.

    Event #16: Limit Hold'em Championship ($10,000 entry)

10 left in this, all from the US of A.

A bunch of interesting names remain, including WSOP Main Event runner-up John Racener, currently the chippie.

Jason Somerville, he of Run It Up, sits 3rd with Nate Silver 6th. Nate Silver is a huge name in the USA, but not in poker - he's a political analyst & baseball statistician, a bit like that bloke in Moneyball.

    1 John Racener Tampa, FL, US 1,090,000 Amazon / 1 / 10
    2 Eric Kurtzman LAS VEGAS, NV, US 975,000 Amazon / 1 / 7

    Event #17: MILLIONAIRE MAKER No-Limit Hold'em ($1,500 entry)

Way too early to bother with this, they are still on the opening flights, it has zillions of runners & lasts for at least 5 days.

This, of course, is not a Lowball hand, but it's a pretty fine 7 Card Stud holding.

Now time to lighten up a little with some tweets. You'll need to click the Tweets to see the comments, which are integral to them really.

    They are playing $1,000 "Flip & Go's".

Players are dealt 3 hole cards, then a standard flop is dealt. Players then discard one card - & that's it, turn their hand over & see a turn & river.

These ones cost $1,000 a go.....

World's gone mad. They were running back to back for hours on end.

I have now just caught up on all your Vegas threads.....a big THANKS from me for doing them. I suppose a lack of Brits might be a factor for your view count. However, it is still nice to see a Poker thread on a Poker Forum ;)

I do hope you continue with them, but understand the amount of work they take to do.

Thanks Alan, & yes, I agree, the lack of Brits does kill a lot of the interest I had hoped for.

Yea I agree without most of brits and euros it doesn't really feel like the same WSOP. Normally I have a mini £50 fantasy poker draft with a few friends each year which keeps me interested in it, finding it harder this year without that sweat.

I can't think of anything worse than FLIP and go tournament. You can cash the tournament without any skill what so ever. They seem so bad for poker imo and they wonder why people value the prestige of wsop bracelet less and less each year.
  • MattBatesMattBates Member Posts: 4,118
Agree with the others, Brit sweats make it better but I do enjoy reading these. Maybe some more interaction from people reading them will get more to read.
