Who won what, Sunday 2nd January - Dog Bloke takes the Major, & we've added a new feature.

Morning.

I've added a new feature to the Results Thread today as you will see. Whether it will stay remains to be seen.

MTT-wise, yesterday's Featured MTT's probably had the biggest Prize Pools in 9 or 10 months, maybe longer. The Major's guarantee had been raised to £15,000 & it delivered in style, coming in at £16,700, & everything else did splendidly well too.

In sport, Chelsea & Liverpool treated us to a terrific game, and after the Reds took a 2-0 lead it looked all over, but Chelsea not only scrambled the draw, they could so easily have won it. Meanwhile, with both teams desperately needing the win, Pep & Co up at Man City were delighted to watch his only two rivals this season both drop points.

I'm not a fan of televised darts, the crowds are so boorish, but last night's two World Championship semi-finals were belters, and it will be Peter Wright & Michael Smith who battle it out for the title tonight.

£700 7 @ 7 £1,316

£6,000 BH £8,130

£15,000 Sunday Major £16,700

£2,000 Mini £2,290

£1,000 Mega £1,700

£1,500 Sheriff £1,900

£1,500 Reload £2,205

£1,000 Turbo £1,890

£1,000 Quickdraw £1,660

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£1,316)

The 7 @ 7 went to seikus, who started his 2022 poker programme with a brace of wins just 10 minutes apart - the 7 @ 7, and the £1,000 Rebuy BH that goes off at 7.10pm. Those two results paid him a combined total of around £700. Not a bad way to start the year. (He never played on New Year's Day).

Runner-up was aynaricol, of whom we shall have more to say later. For a player who has an ABI of around £2.50, runner-up in the 7 @ 7 is quite a big deal.

UnEuropean, from whom I expect big things in 2022, was 6th.

beefmyster just keeps getting better & better, and this win was better than anything they achieved in 2021. Curiously, their best result in 2021 was in this very same Tourney in October, when they were 2nd to Natnug & collected £700.

Completing a 30 minute pair of runner-up spots was aynaricol, who spent most of 2021 bashing up the microstake MTT's. Only last Wednesday she had a PB when winning a UKOPS Mini for some £1,100, & had she won this last night she would have secured another PB, but it was not to be. Still, a combined £845 for 2nd in both 7 @ 7 & the £6k BH is pretty sweet all things considered. Most of us remember the big results in the early part of our poker journeys with great fondness, & this must surely be the case here. I was actually quite surprised to even see her in a big £33 event & assumed she had satted in, but no, she paid in direct, presumably taking a bit of a shot with her recent profits.

    £15,000 Sunday Major (£16,700)

Now that I have gone at the game I get many of my poker kicks vicariously, & to see Dog Bloke take down a biggie always makes me smile. He sort of lurked in the midfield for most of this, before a late surge when it mattered. It was his 2nd Major victory in 3 months, & only last week he ran 3rd in the UKOPS High Roller won by Doooobs. He spends much of his time on the bigger sites or playing Live, which is probably just as well for Team Serious, as he's a formidable opponent.

As you'd expect in a Major, it was a tough old FT, with Sky Poker veteran style2737 in 2nd, followed by whitters, PowerPok3r & ValueJL.

In 6th was Soapisback, who took over the lead late evening & soon built up a huge lead, but presumably things did not go so well in the late stages. Only has 30 MTT's on his CV, & that includes 1st place in a BWBH in November.

craigcu12 was doing well early doors, sitting 2nd for a long period, but presumably ran into some heavy flak.

Natnug was AWOL on 1st January so began his 2022 poker journey last night, & did so with a lovely win in the Mini, which was worth £606. There will be plenty more successes for him this year for sure.

He Who Shall Not Be Mentioned was 4th, a spot ahead of Tommy D. Its good to see Tommy back in the MTT's, & don't forget it's only a few days since he ran 4th in the UKOPS Main for over £2,000.

    £1,500 Reload Rebuy B/Hunter (£2,205)

Dan040811 returned to the winner's enclosure last night. His last big result was in November 2020, when he won a Mini UKOPS & in so doing, deprived @The--Don of a UKOPS win. On that occasion, here's what I wrote about The--Don...

"Talking of doubles, the most eye-opening result of the night was Late Reg Reg running 2nd. Remember, he ran 2nd in the very same affair two nights earlier, & so it looks like he'll be atop the UKOPS Sidebet League today. He repeatedly claims he loathes this event, & throws regular girlie strops under his alter ego Reprobate Reg but deep down he loves it, trust me, in fact he refers to himself these days as Rebuy Reg".

Monty15 broke his 2022 duck. Played an awful lot of satellites in the first two days though & won a good few of them.

    THIS TIME LAST YEAR

By way of a trial, this is a new feature which I may or may not persist with, depending on feedback (if any). It's the Results Thread from the equivalent day last year.

On this occasion, @TheEnigma0 won the Major, with @destinycod taking Sheriff.

Great read, haven't seen a greater snub re jscorgie since the Aussies refused to even write Stuart Broads name after his refusal to walk when smashing the ball to first slip. Also love the on this day feature, will be interesting if anyone has a significant win on the exact same date to the previous year

Happy New Year @Tikay10, I always read your write ups as it gives me a few minutes away from the endless drudgery of my job. I admit that your reports are the best daily Sky Poker highlight MTT results threads with added waffle that I have ever read, long may they continue.
