Cant log out

TheWaddyTheWaddy Member Posts: 1,592
Anyone noticed if you select 'log out' on the desktop version, it has box come up saying 'logging out' .... but then you are still logged in at the end of it?

Hmmm not sure the regulators would like that one Sky, tut tut!

This is a sentence I never thought I would write.

    "I agree."

The same happens for me. I did open a thread about it a few days ago.

It does automatically log you out for inactivity after a while.

Maybe u have no money in your account, would you want to be constantly logged in to online banking while a day on the internet?

Also clearly the regulators are hot on customers 'taking breaks', 'if the fun stops, stop'... etc etc..... if its not letting players log out, i wudda thought this would be a regulation issue.....

I think my issues with that would be security regarding my funds and my account potentially been hacked.

I have noticed this too, and it is concerning. I would think that whilst politically it may be a point scoring thing to say not good under responsible gambling that is just clutching at straws. Experimenting if I click skybet sky casino or sky vegas I would need to login to these separately if I click tournaments it then appears as if I am logged out. So you would need to login again to place any bets.

I would think if someone were so weak willed that appearing logged in could cause them to place bets they cant afford and otherwise would not have bet they likely already have a significant gambling problem.

I think my only concern here would be around account security.

    Guys,

I'll pass this on, but I need some more info really, as I know for sure what their first question will be - is this on Browser, Download, or both?

It works fine for me on both, & after a period of inactivity, it auto logs out for me. Boxster reported the same.

I'm certainly not doubting your word, not at all, but it's a little odd that more players have not mentioned it or complained. If the problem affected everyone, it would be easier to identify &, hopefully, solve, but it seems to be affecting only a very small number of players based on this thread.

For now, feel free to contact CC & let them know. As to security of your account, if it concerns you, the sensible course of action I'd recommend for now if you have a significant sum in your account is to withdraw & deposit on an as & when basis. I know some of you may be concerned that this could possibly cause problems in the current "affordability" climate, but I'd be surprised if any of you are in danger of breaching that threshold.

So, is this on Browser, Download Client, or both?

For me, it is browser, and Firefox.

It does auto-log out after a period of inactivity. It is all a bit bizarre-as an example, I tried to log out the other day, and (as usual) said it was logging me out, and didn't. I came back about 2 hours later-still logged in. Tried to log out, same as before. Whereupon it promptly auto logged me out for lack of activity! Ignoring the "activity" of 30 seconds before

I suspect it does only affect a small (albeit significant) amount of players.

On a separate note-and this is no reflection on Sky or any other site-the Regulator is being spectacularly stupid at the moment. Their constant rumours in relation to what might, or might not, be the rules for affordability going forward are causing lots of poker players to increase the amount of money left on poker sites, as opposed to Bank accounts.

This is causing far more risk to funds than any "benefit" of trying to impinge upon 99% of players having poker as a fun hobby. As money in Bank accounts has all sorts of protections that money on poker sites-any poker sites-do not have.

    @Essexphil

    Thanks Phil.

As to your final two paras, yes, I'm aware of the uncertainty in the current climate until the UKGC White Paper is eventually published, though I suspect it may be some time down the road before anything passes into law. Interesting times, for sure. Nothing is worse than uncertainty.

My only concern is security... but to say its not an issue for 'someone so weak willed' as far as a regulator is concerned, there was a fine of several million just for sending emails to such people.

The regulator is super hot on this, even though that 'weak willed' person would have to reignite their account, deposit, etc ... just for receiving an email on something they had given up. Anything that is seen to encourage those who have an addiction is under scrutiny, not being able to log out i assure you will be a problem.

Sorry if this temporarily derails the thread. a quick thing about Regulators.

Regulators are a necessary part of life. They have an important job to do. But they currently have far too much power.

I don't propose to bang on about the Solicitors Regulatory Authority/SDT. Just to give 1 example, in my last position, the Maximum fine that could be imposed on me personally (as opposed to the Firm) by the SRA went up. From £2,000. To £50 million.

Let's look at the Gambling Industry.

Years of talk about what might happen. Lots of change as the Betting Industry seeks to protect itself. But no action.

It looked like we might know what the future will bring. Now? Change of PM, previous manifesto will be ignored, and, in all probability, insufficient time for anything important to be introduced before the next election.

So uncertainty continues. Just 1 example of the damage caused by changing PM mid-term. Yet again.

Yes, change is necessary. But in a structured, balanced (and timely) way.

Yes, bit of a mess, one way or another. Responsible Gaming is a good thing, but we seem to be getting there in a very roundabout way. For now, SB&G (Flutter too) are going their own route & trying to do the right thing in advance of Regulation. It's going to be a testing time for all concerned, and the uncertainty is a big PITA.

    You may find this interesting.

Kindred's results were published today. (Kindred is Unibet, 32Red etc).

Bit of a horror show, & I don't think their results are untypical of the market as a whole.

    Interesting.

Although, equally surprising were the massive jump in profits between Q3 2020 and Q3 2021 in comparison to before then, which (of course) make the figures look way worse in percentage terms.

Profits are down on 2019. But not by anything like as much...
