Business Plan - Futureproofing - Where is Sky going?

PKRParPKRPar Member Posts: 2,233
This is not a moaning post, honest. More curious.

Most companies, big and small, often share their business plan for the forthcoming year or so.

Do sky Poker have a similar blueprint that's shared? I couldn't see one online anywhere.

What are the future plans for Sky Poker? Where do the suits see Sky Poker in 2 years? 5 years?

Tagging @Sky_James as I have no idea who else works for Sky who would have that particular knowledge.

Obviously referring mainly to the software. Out of date software or not, poker is progressing so much elsewhere on other sites and I'm keen to see Sky Poker in existence in 5-10 years time.

Would also like a new rng for @TheWaddy so he stops dribbling.

    Thanks for the tag!

But will not and can not happen, until regulation has its longgggg overdue overhaul. On that subject, the problem is not with the sites, its the woefully inadequate understanding of poker by those saying they are 'regulating' it.

As online poker is going in the wrong direction numbers wise, it appears we are further away from regulation than ever before.

It is this unfortunately, that is causing the loss of players on the whole.

Im sorry you can not see this. Why cant you watch a well known pro play other pro's online for $20k anymore? Cos they have gone back to live play. Why would they go back to live play, there is only one credible reason, one you will not even consider......

Let's not have another Waddy derail.

Par, I doubt there are suits at Sky. I'd honestly be surprised if there's as many as 10 people dedicated to Sky full time, plus shared customer services. And even those ten won't be senior in the group.

Agree that I'd like to see some plans shared though. Even if it's just to say they are not planning any major changes or investment due to the low ROI expectation from a UK-segregated market. With that said, I would like to see the staff interact more with their customers on things like tournament schedule and structure and software improvements. Stars are always asking me for feedback and I normally give it.

We are still waiting for the new software that was banded about when I joined years and years ago.
Let’s face it the player pool is not big enough to sustain much more.

Give players an inch and they will expect more.
I mean what more could you get out an accounts page.

    It makes perfect sense.

P.s they are not planning on changing anything.

I think he was just using the term Tikay has regularly used for Sam and I which is a bit tongue in cheek. If you mean full time on Poker then there isn't anyone other than myself and Tikay. We share all the supporting teams with the rest of the gaming brands which is definitely the most cost efficient way for a small poker site to operate. It's a battle to get the resource to do anything to improve the site though when you're up against Vegas, Casino and Bingo.

The leadership team don't currently have plans to invest in the short term but are also keen to retain the Poker product so who knows what the long term future holds. It's no secret that we need new software to remain competitive though.

It’s good to see @Sky__James coming on and explaining things a little. I think even that will go a long way in the eyes of players.
Both he and @Tikay10 do a great job and probably with minimal support.

I for one may be a little critical moving forward, I guess some things are just out of their control.

    Exactly this.

Yeh I was referring to Tikay's reference to the suits. :)

Good to hear that longer term the Sky Poker brand is deemed to be included with "Sky Gaming", and the acknowledgement that new software is required to remain competitive.

    Sky Poker iPoker skin anyone?

Thanks for the insight, James. Honestly, I think most of us can get by without a perfect piece of software. The key is minimal downtime and clear errors.

The community that you've built with Tikay is excellent and the work you're doing to keep the site up and running is also great. You have a loyal customer base as a result. I can't believe the group isn't investing more in dedicated resource to build on what you have, when Stars is sh1tting the bed. Stars could learn a lot from Sky.

There's always tweaks to software, promotions and tournaments that would be improvements however. If you set up a group of players at some point for feedback, I'm sure plenty of us would give our time for free.

If it goes to ipoker, im out.... there was an obvious reason alot of companies changed to ipoker 2012 or so...

I would have thought that with major legislation constantly been talked about any gambling company would want to wait and see what happens with that before doing any major investments or overhauls with UK only facing products.
