SUPERLEAGUE GRAND FINAL. What a spectacle.

A superb game to end a very good season of topflight rugby league. Saint Helens had to be at their best to overcome a determined Leeds and ran out deserved 24 - 12 winners to secure an unprecedented 4th title in a row. An incredible achievement in the modern game.
Fast paced throughout with some crunching tackling, slick offloading, sensible refereeing and general great play, this game must surely help increase the fan base of this great sport. 60,000 + attended this one.
I had sat and watched the Union game between Northampton and Leicester earlier in the day and had to bemoan the state of the game I absolutely love as too many technical infringements, pedantic refereeing and a Leicester side who appear to want to revert to the 70's and play a slow rumbling forward game, meant I was constantly switching over to Soccer Saturday.
League is certainly a better spectacle for a paying public and with the World Cup kicking off in 3 weeks, if you aren't a regular watcher then get a few games in, they're all on and many are on terrestrial television. Baring disasters it should be between Australia, England and New Zealand.
Just to top the G.F off PartyPoker Sportsbook made a slight faux par in that they had Saints -5.5 at even money, better than the exchanges so I took some of that value for a pony. Seemed almost wrong but hey you snooze, you lose.
Next Week it's the NRL Grand Final with Penrith taking on Paramatta. Now that WILL be fierce.

As for the union it was the opening round so maybe a bit rusty you’re bang on about the refereeing but that maybe down to so many rules especially at set pieces.
Whatever the greatest worry with the English premiership is with wasps gone into administration Worcester decision today at five o clock,the whole top division is reported that each club are 500 million each in debt.
That is a whopping sum I hope it is as a collective rather than each as that surely is unsustainable for any sport.
Things in the country and round the world are in financial peril and the cost of spectating live is very expensive and it will be difficult for supporters to continue to support clubs already in huge debt.
Here in wales we already have competition with South African clubs on a home and away basis and some administrators want the springboks to join the six nations in the near future.This will further lessen the club game and their development programmes as less money through revenue will trickle down.
