Good Parenting skills?

tomgooduntomgoodun Member Posts: 3,754
I’m a member of a Facebook group from my home town, people post all kinds of stuff asking for help.

One lady asked a question this week which I thought quite troubling, it was - “ Any recommendations for a family pub to take my 4 yr old to watch the match on Sunday”

Her reasoning when pointed out that home was probably best ( by the minority ) was he had been angry when she did that for the last match, she’d “ even provided him pizza n stuff”

Lots of people were suggesting different pubs, some doing face painting, providing plastic cups for beers etc.

Have I become a grouch in my old age, or is this ( as I suspect) THE worst parenting?

The standards of parenting have fallen dramatically and steadily since you and I were kids @tomgoodun and we live in a nice area!

So the parent is being dictated to by a 4 year old child, that sums up her parenting skills perfectly.

If the mother lets the 4 year old dictate shes got trouble ahead.

When the kids an adult she'll be wondering where it all went wrong.

I dont think it is ideal to take a four year old kid to a club full to the brim (nearly every pub showing the game will be) of roudy football fans.

I mean I do not have children and am not the best at this sort of thing but really

Just out of interest, what sort of thing are you the best at?

By 8pm her 4 yr old child should be in bed. Oh and nearly all "Family Licenses" stipulate that all children must vacate by 9pm unless they are still eating a meal. So the little 5h1ts not going to be happy when the landlord asks them to vacate at half time.

The problem with the current Gene pool is there is no lifeguard.

Goodness me I'm getting grouchy in my dotage.
