I was not playing but three very close friends were and witnessed this.
I am not on the Book of Face but i believe there are some discussions on APAT and Aspers about this incident.
Player busts, re-enters gets chips from the desk, and put them in his pocket and keeps them there. Sits at the table and the dealer gives him another stack . He plays for a while then tries to get the chips out of his pocket to add to his stack ! Players noticed this, floor called, clock stopped etc.
Ruling made and chips removed and he goes on to be part of the ICM chop for the tourney !
His excuse was he was a little drunk and forgot the chips from the desk, not drunk enuff to make the money i must presume.
I have seen a statement from Aspers ( FB page i believe ) via wattsapp trying to sort the problem, worth a read, not sure what might be on the APAT FB ?

Apologies for how long this has taken, but there was quite a lot to go through.
The incident happened because the player in question collected his tournament chips at the desk, conversed with a waitress, then took his seat. While talking, the player put the tournament chips in his pocket, along with some cash chips. When he reached his seat, the floor runner saw he had no chips, then placed a stack in front of him. The player played for approximately 10 minutes with the stack he had been given by the floorman.
He then pulled some chips from his pocket, which were a mix of cash and tournament.
In full view of the table, he separated the tournament chips and placed them in front of him. At this point, the floor was called.
Footage from the cash desk was checked, and it was confirmed he had been given his start stack. The tournament TD made the decision to remove the extra chips and allow play to continue. This was then implemented.
At no point did the player use the additional chips in any hands, nor did he gain advantage from them. He didn’t try and introduce the chips surreptitiously.
I can fully understand why the TD made the decision he did, given there was no disadvantage to any player and no advantage to the player with the extra chips. However, by the absolute interpretation of the TDA rules we use, the player SHOULD have been eliminated. Any chips removed from sight are forfeit, so he should have been eliminated before taking his seat! Given this was a re-entry tournament, and it certainly appeared he didn’t hide the chips with the intention of gaining an advantage, he wouldn’t have been disqualified and would have been able to re-enter.
As with all tournaments, the floor decision is final. There was no evidence of attempted cheating, just confusion. Therefore, the player would not have been disqualified.
However, I fully understand how frustrating it would be to see someone cash when it’s felt he shouldn’t have been in the tournament. There are too many “what ifs” to calculate the impact of the player staying in that seat rather than having to relocate after re-entry, so I’ve attempted to come up with something fair. This has been made even more complicated by the fact they paid 2 extra places as a bubble deal, then did an ICM deal.
We are going to treat it as if the player had been disqualified and distribute the funds he won accordingly. The casino is adding this money. It’s going to take a bit of working out, but all of the players at the FT will find there are extra funds on their Asper’s accounts that can be withdrawn at the cash desk. This will be processed by Friday 21st February.
I would be appalled and not very forgiving- finding it very hard to give the player the benefit of the doubt.
Seems to me it's been handled very well, & at the Cardroom's (or APAT's) cost.
The initial gut reaction would be to disqualify the guy. In reality, based on the facts as presented, seems like he was a bit the worse for wear & just made an honest mistake.
Around 30 years ago, I was just starting my "Live" poker journey & drove all the way up to Grosvenor Salford one evening for a £110 entry Main Event satellite.
5 seats on offer, 9 of us left & thanks to some flops of joy, I was big chip leader when we broke to 1 table. My seat is LOCKED, trust me, no way I don't get a seat here.
My new seat was right in the corner, once in I can't get out, & I need a pee. So, being a sensible bloke, I divert to the Gents before taking my seat, & of course put my chips in my pocket.
I emerge from the Gents, take my seat, openly remove the chips from my pocket, & Dealer calls Floor, & reports me for having chips in my pocket. I explain to the Floor what happened, & he snap disqualifies me.
Always felt they treated me a bit harshly, & (given I was clearly a newbie) a warning would have been better way of dealing with it, so I refused to ever play at that cardroom again, & never have.
Same with this lad at the APAT. Just give him a little slap, case dismissed, we've all done daft things from time to time, especially after an excess of alcohol consumption.
"Sorry for the delay" says it all really, Paul had so many complaints to go through and take into account and i agree that Aspers have done all they can to placate the players as the TD decision was not correct, not sure how they will get any money back from the villian as i presume he was paid out and is long gone.
I have to sympathise with all the players this guy knocked out, apparently he was calling with all manner or **** coz he really wanted to bust out and get out of the room, of course it went the opposite and he went sun running
Just leaves a bad taste that anyone could attempt to do this sort of thing.
