Holidaymakers' beloved £157k BMW 'wrecked' after leaving it with meet-and-greet firm at Manchester Airport

A couple have told how they landed back at Manchester Airport from a holiday only to find a 'meet and greet' parking firm had allegedly crashed their brand new £157,000 BMW.
After alerting police, they found their badly damaged 24-plate BMW XM crashed into a hedge close to the airport on Saturday afternoon after landing on a flight from the Czech Republic.
The couple, who the Manchester Evening News has agreed not to name, allege the 'meet and greet' parking firm crashed the hybrid petrol-electric car after they called to summon the vehicle -
and that the company didn't apologise and refused to reveal its location.Their daughter, who was not with them at the time, told the MEN:
"When they landed, they called to say they were ready for their car. But 45 minutes later there was no car and they called again. They said another car had gone into their car and to get a taxi home. They wouldn't give the location. They called the police and the police told them the location."The couple, from Stoke-on-Trent, took a taxi and found their damaged car on Mill Lane near the junction with Castle Mill Lane in the Cheshire village of Ashley, near the airport.
Their daughter added: "They were really upset. They really loved that car. When their grandchildren went into it, they had to take their shoes off. The company just didn't care and they didn't even say sorry or that they would drive them home. They only found out where it was from the police."

Man entrusted firm to drive his car somewhere to park and then bring it back when he had finished his holiday.
They crashed it-and it was presumably either their fault or the driver of another car.
They are insured, and are going to have to pay the cost of repair and associated costs, such as taxis, hire etc where appropriate.
Happens hundreds of times a day-for example, every time someone negligently hits your car. They weren't injured, and they will be able to recover their losses.
If someone does not wish to be identified, might I suggest not buying a £157k car as your day-to-day vehicle?
24 plate so virtually brand new, very probably leased/PCP, in my opinion one of the ugliest cars on the road, did it a favour by smashing that humungous grill to pieces.
As @Essexphil stated I have no idea why this is news.
Me? I agree. It's ugly. But if someone wants to pay 157K for it, good luck to them.
The bit I don't understand is the bit where they pretend they are taking great care of this car, and this nonsense about the grandkids not being allowed to wear shoes in it.
They could have got a taxi to the airport. They could have bought a 10K car for mundane journeys or ones where they are going to have to leave a car elsewhere while they are on holiday. Instead, they chose to ask someone they had presumably never met to drive and store their pride and joy. Who, presumably panicked when they realised how much they were going to cost their employer/their insurers.
My van is 12 years old and worth about 1k before anyone has any ideas about me
Not everyone in Stoke is a shady, dusthead.
Police issued a statement
A police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of skeletal remains found by a member of the public on land near Festival Park. At this time the remains have not been identified. A scene is in place while investigators examine the scene. We want to assure the local community that although this is an unsettling discovery, we have a visible presence in the area to investigate, provide reassurance and to listen to any concerns."
Police are appealing for witnesses
They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 397 of 2 March, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
