Conor Benn 'free to fight' as Chris Eubank Jr laughs off rival's innocence claim.

Through VADA, the Brit twice tested positive for banned substance clomiphene last year and this forced his bout with Chris Eubank Jr (scheduled for October 10) to be called off during fight week.

Benn has spent the last couple of months out of the public eye as he has attempted to clear his name.

A 270-word document has been sent to the WBC which is said to put forward the case that Benn has been the victim of contamination. The details of this document are yet to emerge publicly, and Sulaiman has indicated that the WBC will take as much time as they need to come to a resolution but Benn "can fight" in the meantime.

"He can fight. He is free to fight. He is not in any way suspended," Sulaiman told Boxing Voice.

"The WBC is going through the process. We received a document from his team of 270 pages and within that document, there are many matters that need further investigation and action. "This is not a matter that can be simply resolved with sympathy or saying 'X, Y and Z'. "We have to go into the facts because there are legal implications. We will have to take all the time necessary." He added: "We received their document, we sent a letter back to their lawyers and it took three weeks for them to respond. "It is not that we have stalled the case, we are actively working on it and following the protocol. "There are lots of things I cannot respond to because there are legal implications so a complete investigation has to take place."

Benn has appeared confident that he has done enough to prove his innocence. On Monday evening, his Instagram story read: "Been through **** and back. Thank God for science, The evidence doesn't lie. No holes in truth."

Eubank Jr has continued his feud with Benn in recent months via social media and he was quick to respond to his rival's latest comments.

"I'm pretty sure it was science that detected the illegal substances in your system on two separate occasions Conor," Eubank Jr tweeted.

"So yes absolutely thank god for science… otherwise I would of been fighting the hulk a few months ago!" Eubank Jr returns to this ring this weekend as he battles Liam Smith at Manchester's AO Arena on Sky Sports Box Office.

Benn and his promoter - Eddie Hearn - meanwhile have indicated that he will not fight until his name has been cleared in public.

Chris Eubank Jr slaps Conor Benn with an egg during face-off in press conference ahead of April 26 clash.

Chris Eubank Jr lashed out at Conor Benn at the end of an explosive press conference between the pair ahead of their April 26 showdown.

Eubank Jr and Benn went head-to-head in front of the cameras ahead of their long-awaited British battle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this April, two and a half years on from when the rivals were due to clash.

The pair traded insults at each other during a 40-minute press conference in Manchester, with Benn and Eubank Jr continuing to exchange words at each other when the pair faced off.

Eubank Jr turned his face as his opponent talked directly into his ear, before slapping an egg in Benn's face and sparking a melee that led to the pair being separated by security.

Benn reacted to the incident on social media, where he posted: "That's the only shot you'll land on me you f****** p****. Two rounds you are finished @ChrisEubankJr."

Loved their Dads and that era in general. Got no time for either of these two, although I'll still watch I couldn't care less who wins.

    That's a dear egg... :D

Chris Eubank Jr believes the £100,000 fine levied on him for slapping Conor Benn with an egg was too “steep”.

Eubank and Benn will fight in a high profile all-British clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

At the first press conference to announce the fight, Eubank cracked an egg, held in an open palm, into the side of Benn's head, which saw the occasion engulfed by chaotic scenes.

In response to the egg incident the British Boxing Board of Control handed Eubank Jr an £100,000 fine.

Eubank's team has already signalled that they intend to appeal that ruling.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Eubank Jr said: "We are dealing with the situation. £100,000 for throwing an egg seems a little bit strong.

"Especially looking at what others have been fined for what would seem to be much more serious incidents over the years. I don't think anyone's got anywhere close to a £100,000 fine. Tables being thrown, people getting punched in the face, slapped in the face.

"100k for an egg, it's steep," he concluded. "We will deal with the situation."

Eubank misses weight and fined £375,000.

Chris Eubank Jr will be fined £375,000 after missing the weight by just 0.05lb for Saturday's grudge match with Conor Benn.

The 35-year-old weighed 0.2lb over the 11st 6lb limit on the first attempt and was still too heavy the second time.

A trimmed and toned Benn – who has operated at welterweight for most of his career – came in lighter than expected at 11st 2lb.

Eubank and Benn are both bound by a rehydration clause that prohibits them from weighing more than 12st 1lb on Saturday morning.

"Show me the money", Benn, 28, posted in a video on social media.

The weigh-in took place behind closed doors at a London hotel on Friday.

There will be a ceremonial weigh-in, which will be open to the public, in Islington on Friday evening.

The fight is due to take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank makes weight on fight day for Benn contest.

    What is a rehydration clause?

Eubank's weight has been a major talking point in the build-up and particularly during fight week.

He weighed 0.2lb over the 11st 6lb limit at the first attempt on Friday and was still too heavy the second time.

The rehydration clause has been criticised by some in boxing, including Eubank’s father Chris Eubank Sr.

Former undisputed light-welterweight champion Josh Taylor has said the contest should be called off.

"I think this is potentially a very disastrous night for boxing waiting to happen. I desperately hope this is not the case," the Scotsman added on social media.

Benn's team feel the rehydration clause allows for a more level playing field.

Fighters generally shed some fat over the period of their training camp to get close to the agreed or stipulated weight limit.

Before the weigh-in, which takes place a day before the fight night, they may dehydrate to lose the final bit of weight.

Losing water weight close to the fight allows them to refuel with food and water much more easily.

Eubank says he would usually put on about 14lb after a weigh-in.

Before the first weigh-in, he said his two options were to either put on what he usually would and then cut 4lb early on Saturday, or remain within the 10lb window.
