There are no direct flights between Manchester and Las Vegas on a Saturday. I am flying out on Friday 11th and coming back Sunday 20th. Both direct to and from Manchester, cost £1160 with Virgin.
where are you stopping on the friday and saturday? I had looked at direct but then hotels were going to be like £300 a night and didnt seem worth it lol

I believe that only £1000 was provided by sky for the flights. I'm really sorry that you have been left out of pocket like this.

You can get hotels alot cheaper than £300 if you look about, you could always try a full night playing poker and then just sleep on the plane coming home lol

The flights could have been less than £1k if you don't fly direct
on a serious note does anyone have any tips for a first timer travelling alone? Not only first time to vegas first time out of uk
Unless you're loaded don't buy drinks at the bar on the strip, put $20 in poker machine at the bar, push the button every now and again, the barman will keep giving you drinks, just tip a dollar or play the slots noting which aisle the cocktail waitresses are using most and sit at a slot machine in that aisle ordering a drink every time they pass you. Don't forget to tip $1 is fine, or if you fancy a good drink tip her £10, she won't pass you again without putting a drink in your hand lol
I am doing the same as @bigfatfish (flying out on Friday 11th July and returning on Sunday 20th). I have booked an additional two nights at Planet Hollywood, but due to it being the weekend both nights are not particularly cheap : (
You will definitely be able to get cheaper nights elsewhere if you don't mind switching hotels.
In terms of advice re Vegas, some of these may seem obvious but I will just list anyway:
1. Make sure to complete Visa Waiver (ESTA) and get Travel Insurance 2. Check passport expiry date 3. Change money before travel to get a decent exchange rate, loads of comparisons online 4. Its beneficial to have a credit card, as the hotels usually like to have one on file for incidentals and as a security deposit (Halifax Clarity is good option). I think you can use a debit card but it puts a hold on that amount so would stop you using that money, which could be inconvenient. 5. High factor sunscreen, that's if you are not going to spend all your time inside being a degenerate gambler : ) 6. Don't accept anything being handed out on the strip, i.e people may say I have a CD with their demo etc and will suggest it's free. If you take it they will mither you for money. Also generally most non tourists out there are hustling, if you want a picture with Showgirls or any of the people in costumes they will want a tip. If you do this, make sure to agree an amount beforehand. 7. The Deuce bus is good option for getting up and down the strip 8. Most people that assist you will expect tips e.g. bar staff, hotel staff, maids etc, its useful to have quite a few small bills for this purpose. 9. If you need to buy any bits you might need, head to a Walgreens or CVS, they have virtually everything and are fairly cheap 10. ATM / Cash Machine transaction fees are high (approx $10 or more some casinos), one of the cheapest I found last time I went was Casino Royale, although that is a bit of a way from Planet Hollywood. 11. Unless you are extremely attractive... random women who seem extremely interested in you out of nowhere are likely to be after a 'transactional arrangement' ; ) 12. To be able to play poker at most hotels you need to sign up for their loyalty card, or at least that has been my experience. If you do gamble then make sure to use the loyalty card as it could result in getting comps for future stays.
I don't want this to come across as negative, Vegas is amazing and when you have been once you will probably want to return many times!
There is a form you have to fill out about Tax, not sure what form it is. maybe others who have been previously can advise you on this, but i believe if you don't do the form and win money, you have to pay american tax !
Have a great time, winning a package is a special experience and must be enjoyed to the max.
ESTA is key and don't even consider lying on the application. If you turn up without the address of the place you are staying in, you are not getting into the country.
I've been to Vegas alone. You get offered a lot more "services" when alone. Even the cab drivers will ask if you need to be hooked up with a woman and show you a catalogue of the options.
Walking up the strip is fine, but don't even consider walking down to a place like the Rio unless you want to get mugged. Also don't dwell anywhere that seems shady, like a car park.
It's been a while since I've been, so others can advise on places to go, places to eat and good poker rooms. I always preferred the older part of town when alone and the 1/3 games at the Golden Nugget were soft and wild, with uncapped buyins and 3k pots not unusual.

Hopefully the above will be of some help
It is going to be hotter than you think, all of the time, and it's a different kind of dry heat.
Get a stack of dollar bills somewhere. At least 100 of them.

Good Luck to all the Sky folks going to Vegas.
