Manchester 235 casino

SPTpaulSPTpaul Member Posts: 19
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out, I am going to Machester 235 casino, and I dont know the area, will be there 20th June for 2 or 3 nights, I know that many of you will have been there with Sky and stayed at local hotels, I am going alone and would like to know if it seems to be a safe casino/area in the early hours, is the taxi pick up point easy and safe? or will I need to be hanging around the streets waiting for a taxi to arrive, are there any hotels in walking distance close by?, had a look on Google maps the nearest I got was The Raddison and its expensive, seems to be just under half a mile away, dont really want to be walking that far at 3.00am in the morning lol, I had a bit of a scare waiting for a taxi from The Empire in Liecester square in the early hours @ 15 years back, so just being extra cautious when I am alone, any hotel recommendation's ? Cheers.

i mean being there a few times no real issues I would not say safety concerns but the are did seem like a bit of a maze to me trying to find the coach station afterwards but then my sense of direction is not always the best.

@johnmonty is correct, Leonardo is just a quarter of a mile away & it's a good clean hotel that does a decent breakfast.

When I go (usually with my wife), I stay at the Premier Inn (Central) which is just a short walk away (400 - 500 yards). She will walk from the hotel to join me later in the day, so we feel it's pretty safe around there.....or the Premier Inn on Portland Street, which is next door to a decent, and lively Wetherspoons (for an ok breakfast and cheaper drinks )
Central Premier Inn is also only 200 yards from the same Wetherspoons

I've checked prices and its £377 and £338 respectively that weekend.....so not that cheap I'm afraid.

The other cheaper hotel nearby-ish, is the Brittania a bit further up Portland Street, but still only 800yds or so away. I've never stayed there yet though.

Taxis can be ordered from the Casino, so you can wait inside in the Early Hours (hopefully with your pockets 'FULL of Ca$h :) ), 'til the taxi arrives

    GOOD LUCK Paul :)

ps ...... Don't forget to take your I.D.

    It's pretty safe round there.

All the hotels are decent. Stayed at the Britannia twice-definitely improved, because it was awful.

Premier/Travelodge are the same as everywhere.

Leonardos is exactly what you would expect. More expensive. But a bit better.

Stayed in several hotels in Manchester. Only 1 I would avoid is the Stay Inn

A lot depends on whether you want a base or just somewhere to sleep/breakfast.

    Good luck

I always stay at the Manchester Central Premier Inn as well, only a few minutes walk and as a woman I've never felt unsafe walking around there at night!

Travelled a reasonable bit for poker and personally think there is a pretty clear difference in quality between travel lodge and premier inn, with premier inn being a significant improvement and think premier inn is not so far behind in quality to some of the more luxurious chains and is usually at a much better price point.
