top pair what next

  I have had this a lot hit top pair but on pictures I usualy bet out and will get called by what I think are over card hoping to hit and a picture card comes what do I do? i.e.

    First hand why are you even in the pot with 910 off? and then you call a raise with it too.  Why do you believe they just have overs and are hoping to hit?  Can they not have over pairs?

    Second hand yes you have top pair with a reasonable kicker, but why are you overbetting the pot?  what hands can call you? hands with big potential or hands that are beating you, the shove makes no sense.  His KJ suited is only very slightly behind your QJ percentages wise, and he probably thinks his king is good too.

    to be honest, I have no problem with hand #2- I like the way you did it. The draw was on the table, you have top pair and a strong kicker. You want to get your chips in right there and if you're called by 2 pair/KQ/AQ/AA/KK then you shrug and say fair enough, but any other hand at all and you're going in as more than a 50% favourite, which is a good position. That's assuming he even calls, of course. As it is, you got pretty unlucky there- he had 12 outs and bagged one of them, that's life. You don't want to sit around and let him catch his flush though, that's bad. The J on turn means he's not going away there anyway, just unlucky for me.

    The first hand I liked until you slowed on the A. If I'm playing that hand, I'm smelling weakness a mile away and betting it to push you off, and that was fantastic play by him. Sure, he may have the A and been betting it, but he equally might not have. If you want to really get that hand, you have to bet again on the turn with the A. If he then reraises on the turn, back away. The bet on the flop was decent enough. The way he's played it does suggest he could well be on AK/AQ/any A at all, but he could just as easily have KQ/KJ/QJ or any number of low pocket pairs. I think you have to at least make the bet to be sure he hasn't just outplayed you.

     thanks for the input the first hand 9 10 off the blinds were very low and i called to hit  big  if i miss i have done with the hand when the 9 came giving me top pair i guessed im ahead but worried about over cards so i bet out to see where i was one player folds the other called when the A came the decision was to represent it or fold as the player still in was the raiser and me out of position  i opted for damage limitation and fold if i had more chips then i would have continued the other hand Q J i wanted to take the pot there with the flush draw, I pushed so he cant call unless he had hit but he decided to gamble and called behind if i had bet out say half the pot 300 he would have called then i hit two pair and with my stack pretty small  would have pushed then with the same result   but thanks again for your comments
