Hi all

I'm not a regular contributor on this board as I still have my "L" plates on - but I just have to post to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who was either at the SPT in Dublin - or who was encouraging me on the chat thread to attend.  I have never played in a SPT before - and never really played in any live poker before (other than a few hands for fun in Vegas).  I was luck enough to qualify via a direct satellite - even though I didn't realise I was trying to win a seat in the actual SPT venue in Ireland - I actually thought it was entry into a big cash game on the internet lol.

I am soooooooooooo glad I went - and I would encourage anyone who has ever wondered if they should "risk it" to give it a go!!  It was an absolute honour to meet Tikay at the SPT - a true gent if ever I've met one.  The regulars at the SPT were a fabulous bunch of people and really welcoming to a "newbie".  I was feeling a bit intimidated at my first SPT as I didn't know a single soul there - but I honestly can't believe the atmosphere there - it was nothing like I expected a serious SPT to be - I was imagining straight poker faces, no chat, deadly stares etc and was terrified of making huge mistakes - but I couldn't have been more wrong.  Yes the poker was a serious game - but the mistakes I made (and there were many!!!) were greeted with a smile and an explanation - a true helping hand to a newbie!!

A special thanks from me has to go to TRIP5 - a real lifejacket in a sea of OMGGGGGGGG lol.  She truly is a diamond beyond measure - and a fab social buddy.

Many thanks again to you all - you all know who you are!! 

PS - The poker team from SKY running the event were great too - apologies that I haven't got the head for names (think alcohol might have affected my memory lol).

    Glad you came to Dublin Rose. Sorry we didn't get a chance to have a proper chat but that's the thing about SPT's there are so many people to meet and catch up with, and not enough time. That means you have to come to the next one, and the one after that and the one after that! :)

    It is also easier if there is a bar on site as people stay in the casino to socialise once knocked out of the poker but without the alcohol at the sportinhg emporium made this trickier than usual

    You are a truly wonderful lady and it was a pleasure spending the weekend with you. You kept us all entertained and truly gripped with your tales. 

    I genuinely hope we get to see you at another SPT in the future

    Everybody was literally ace!! Try to make Newcastle if you can as I'll defo be at that one so will be around to currupt you again wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

    What a lovely Post, Rose, and it was a perfect pleasure to meet you. 

    You are correct - the SPT regulars are about as far removed from the "face as long as a seaside donkey" brigade as you can imagine, & it was just grand to see they looked after you & made you feel at home.

    I'm not sure that there is any reason for us recreational players to play poker if it is not to enjoy ourselves. That is the whole idea, but some folks lose sight of that.

    I get the feeling you may have enjoyed yourself! Just one question. What is this secret that goldenb238 talks about? It isn't a looky likey thing is it? Cos in that pic on the SPT update thread you do bear a resemblance to a cetain celebrity :)

    Great post, it really captures what the SPT's are all about, they're really not like any other live event I've ever played.

    Really pleased you enjoyed your first outing and hopefully catch you at future SPT's, I'm just gutted that I couldn't make it to this one myself, sounds like it was great fun by all accounts.

    Ahhhhhhhh FlyingDagg - you've sussed me out........... - well - almost lol.  Only problem with being the lookalike that you probably think I am is that I can't sing a note!!!
