I don't think you're getting that short, you still have 1500 chips at the start of the hand.

I wouldn't be playing A-7-6-5 here, unless the ace was suited. At least then you'd be drawing the high hand to a nut flush. What sort of flop are you wanting to see with that hand?

    Hi Waller.

I think I have to fold pre here.

We have enough to let the Blinds go through & still have a "pot-sized bet" behind.

Our hand will need to outdraw ANY hand it goes up against, A-5-6-7 is beating very little.

Personally, I rarely play any hand that has combos of 5, 6 & 7 in it, these are really bad cards "together".

As long as we still have a pot-sized bet behind, I "wait for a better spot" here.

A-5-6-7 is really bad imo. It ranks (out of 5,300 hands) 2,400 if unsuited, 900th if single suited, & 677th if double suited.

Incidentally, you say the Villain "is, or looks good". That's not for me to say here, but I "grade" every single opponent I have ever played against in these PLO8 DYM's, using the note facility.

    Just a word or two.

    Very good

    Competent.

    OK

    Station

That sort of thing. You soon build up a good reservoir of info.

I also "colour code" every one, so I can see their assumed ability at a glance, when in a hand.

My "code" has Green as competent or good, Purple as "FIRST CLASS",  Red as "Station", that sort of thing.

PS - Jac35 is "Yellow". (= "Orford quality").

100% agree, especially "what sort of flop are we hoping for?".

We can almost never scoop here.

Just think, wherever possible, before every hand, "AM I LIKELY TO SCOOP?"

If we are unlikely to scoop, we are risking our whole stack for half the pot at best, & can get freerolled by Villain.

On my screens Tikay1 is yellow. My colours may or may not have different meanings to Tikay's though!

Cheers for all the input. I have found a list of all the hand rankings and have printed it off.

Hopefully in time I can squeeze myself into the "green" or even "purple" categories..........don't hold your breath though!!

PPT it, it's not actually that big of a dog against a 20% range, think it had 45% equity or so. When you think about the fold equity we have as well, shoving is going to be +ev.
