What does Permalink do?

Looking at a post - top right hand corner - a small 'Permalink' icon. Tried clicking it but couldn't see what it had done.

Just curious innit :-)

You have been charged £7.99 for using this service (prices may vary by ISP).
Thankyou for your custom - please call again.

P.S. I wondered what it does, too.

    good question there Nosey.

the one thing i can tell you is that it's browser specific. use firefox and you won't see it.

that isn't much of an answer though so let me go find out.

i should really know this one.... doh!

right ok here is the answer.

the permalink allows you to link to an exact post in a thread.

just click on the little symbol next to the post you are referring to then copy and paste the url as usual.

the pasted link will then take the reader to the exact post in a thread.

'every day's a school day' and all that

    Thanks, that sounds very useful.
I'm sure that Tikay will love it now that he's mastered "smart links".   :-)
Have you checked that it works as advertised?
