Table has just broken and oppo hadn`t been sat for long,,

I was running well and it was about 3 am!!

Snap fold or call??

Snap fold for me I think at best your flipping but it might be smaller pair I would protect my large stack and look for a better spot where you were the aggressor

Okay situations like this are pretty much always going to be player dependant.

I would prefer to flat 99 here, unless youve established some dynamic or have alot of history. I dont really agree with "finding a better spot" If its a profitable spot why wait till you find another?

Im not very good pre-flop tbh but imo flatting here is defintely better if you dont have a plan for what to do when you face action after 3b

Unless I have notes on the player, I'd tend to default see a 4x open on the button as being a strong hand and therefore would lean towards a call pre as well to set mine/proceed with caution post-flop.

That said, it's 3am, it's NL4 and you are running good... probably makes this a fist pump call once he shoves, get it in and hope the hot streak continues

I agree with shaky and mrleemr here, flat and see a flop. I am personally not 3 betting a 4x raise here unless I am prepared to get it in pre.

I mean if he has A5 here for example then you could make an arguement for 99 being okay. However this would be hindsight so we need to make decisions based on info relevant to the hand at the time.

If you look at ranges
2.5% 4b shoving range here QQ+/Ako+

You have about 35.7% equity

If he is doing this with JJ+ Aqo+

You have abouit 39.3%

Lets say for example he has the latter range and has bluffs like kjo+ kq+ Ajo+ (not ss)

Your looking at 45.5% and can defintely argue to get this in.

Throw in hands like A2s-A5s

48.6%

Throw in all pairs as some players do this and you got yourself 56.3%

Equipped with a wider button range and ability to play post flop 3b 99 to get it in can be a very viable option sometimes.

I would strongly suggest downloading an equity calculator and just mess around with it. It can help your game alot and also let you realise that when your all in and get bad beats, often your not that far ahead
