So, here's what we've got lined up for this evening...
7pm - Highlights from Sunday's Primo Final
8pm - Ask the Expert (featuring your hands and your questions)
9pm - Sky Poker School (playing out of position in cash games)
10pm - Live coverage of the £6k Turbo Open (register HERE) 11pm - An hour of action from the Master Cash tables
Please send in your Hand IDs and questions for 'Ask the Expert'. And please provide your thoughts and experiences on tonight's 'Sky Poker School' topic: playing out of position in No Limit Hold'em cash.
We'll also be chatting about the Sky Poker Cash Game (now that you've all had a chance to see it). And we'd like to know...
What's your favourite kind of televised poker?
Do you prefer live Hold'em or on-line action? Tournaments or cash? Are you a fan of six-seater shootouts? Do you enjoy watching amateurs play against pros? Got any ideas for a revolutionary TV format?
Plus, we'll be running an on-air competition. We'll play the always-popular 'Guess the Hand' game, with four seats in Thursday's Mini Bounty Hunter up for grabs.

discovered sky poker recently and I've seen time and time again players being told not to limp
especially UTG, with hands like 910, Q10, KJ and small pairs.
what do you think about limping to re-raise from early position and representing a monster hand?
playing out of position is allways a handycap but if you keep attacking depending on the texture of the board
or maybe check-raise an ace high flop it can be quite effective but
is it bad to make moves like this?
also what sort of hands should I avoid making this move with?
thanks

What I think would be good would be a handicap tournament based on earnings
e.g. range of chips 10,000 15,000 20,000
The like of Razavi, Channing, Redmond Lee starting short stack 10k
Ryan Carlo and Tikay starting 15k
and Orford, Hartigan, Fowler starting with 20k
Just to see how much difference the chip stacks would make
On a more serious note, the type of thing I hate on a poker show is that which happens on the final table at the WPT: The play pauses at heads-up so that scantily-clad ladies can parade themselves with trays of cash in front of the largely male audience, playing into the seedy image the game needs to get away from. Some people seem to think this adds glamour and razzamatazz to the game but the majority, I think, find it tawdry and vulgar.
I think the best poker shows are those which show the game to be part of a healthy, exciting broader lifestyle which people can aspire to. The EPT shows do that quite well but unfortunately the nature of casinos make it tricky. They are so generic. Sitting in a casino in Barcelona, you might as well be in Blackpool as far as the cameras are concerned and that makes it tricky to portray that "cool" image. Find a window with a view and put the final table in front of it for goodness sake. lol
Of course good commentary is important too. The EPT/Sky cash game chaps are alright.
Great stuff so far...
Lmuscle90 - welcome to Sky Poker! We'll address your question in the 'Ask the Expert' hour (8-9pm).
Mohican, cleansweep & BorinLoner - you all raise excellent points which will be discussed on the show.
The last time he was on he admitted to telling a big porky in his youth. Subsequently Carlo was mysteriously unable to make it to his next show. Mrs. Citrone clearly is a strict disciplinarian.
I guess it helps a bit if you know something about the players so the WSOP or EPT coverage is usually entertaining, as HSP the first couple of times you see it. The games currently being shown on channel 191 as a TV World Championship or something isn't very interesting as a) the players are just a bunch of randoms, b) the structure is dreadful, and c) despite Channing's excellent commentary, his co-host is dreadful.
The other thing that was good about the 1st series of the cash game was that it showed some inconsequential hands such as walks or raise-fold-fold-fold etc. If every hand shown is just going to be an all-in with the short stack either doubling up or going home, I get bored easily. Also a hand that ends up in a chop can be good TV too, yet we see remarkably few of those on 861.
One final point, I'd like more coverage on TV (whether on Sky or elsewhere!) of formats other than Texas Hold'em. Yes I know the reasons but that doesn't stop me wanting to see some Stud or Omaha Hi/low as these are my two favourite games
I had blonde curls too until about the age of 4. Then it went brown and straight and now it has migrated to my chin! Run well everyone and have run
Hand History #618841522 (20:23 05/02/2013)
Pre-flop is pretty straightforward. On the flop, usually I would check to the raiser but we're four-handed and the board is very wet so I couldn't be sure that anyone would bet. If it's checked around I lose value and there are lots of bad turn cards for me. Would it be better to check here, looking to check-raise because someone's surely going to bet, aren't they? Check-raising looks more semi-bluffy, doesn't it?
I get one call from the pre-flop raiser and he folds to my bet on the turn. I can't help think he folded an overpair, so did I lose value by being too aggressive? I'm fairly confident that I played it reasonably well but I don't play the main event very often and it's nagging that I might have lost value.
No history with any of my opponents by the way.
Thanks for your thoughts.
i thought the villian would be holding an over pair or AQ so went for the call and tried bluffing with 3 10s on the turn but now i wonder should top pair decent kick have been raised on the flop.
Regarding tv tournaments, i think they will always kinda have the issue that the best tv comes from the strange / lucky plays, or the massive bluffs. While good tv, this presumably makes everyone think they can play like that. At least 861 tends to talk through the play, and is happy to call someone's play bad even if they then fluke the win.
The only downside really to sky format is that there is quite a difference between when u can pause the play, and analyse / think through alot of options, and when u are sat in the tourney with the interminable timer ticking down. Or at least thats a difference for relative newbie like myself.
For the future would love to see some lower stakes stuff, to analyse and discuss tactics when the players arent necessarily so skilled, experienced or just playing alot looser with less at stake. Be very interesting to hear how to play in those situations. Maybe even follow a sng through to get to know the players, the way they react to each other's play etc, im sure 6 people on here would volunteer.
hi james, carlo,
numbers are going down quickly....
great show as per usual
my fav tv poker is good old fashioned high stakes but i think the new way of watching poker should be the reactions of online players to badbeats (nothing really to do with poker or the game) just online players hitting the keyboard swearing at the screen or just kicking the cat lol
just random question for carlo if you had to start all over again with £1000 br do you think you could turn that into a living playing poker these days?
and what would your game plan be?
thanks dr run good
hi again james
the random question was meant does carlo think he could turn it into a living not just a player in genral
