Wouldn't look too much into EV. It's just the expected value when all the chips are in. If you want to improve then always check over your hh's from hem and see what mistakes YOU think you made, and then post them onto a forum
not necesserily. You can get your money in bad and still make the correct decision. You can make a bad fold and not even get to showdown and therefore not realise you played it bad.
you can get your money in 20 times in a row w/ kk vs aa and your all in ev will be - whatever, doesn't mean you ever made an incorrect decision
Decided to play a couple of MTT's on SKY tonight. I played the mini and finished 314 out of 580. Then played the 8.30pm £1k bounty Hunter. Just scraped into the money in 13th place, but took no Bounties at all. This happens to me quite a lot in the Bounty Hunters where I run quite deep but take very few if any Bounties. Would this suggest to people that I am not playing aggressively enough and playing a far too tight range. or is it just one of those things.
could be showing that you are not getting as much value out of your winning hands as you could. if you could squeeze more value out of each hand you will:
1. knock out more players that have a smaller stack than you (you might be letting them off the hook for their lives)
2. have more chips so have more players whose stacks you dominate
so a little more focus on bet sizing might be all you need
then there are also some bounty hunting specific techniques, but you don't need to use those if you don't want to (and there are mixed opinions on them anyway)
£3.60 direct to the main event tonight where I played pretty good and went out 7th after a flip.
£1k Bounty at 8.30pm, didn't last long and went out after collecting 1 bounty.
Mini event, was in the top 5 from about 70 players out and was going along very nicely. Played the following hand when in 5th place and this would have gave me the lead with 14 left. Just one of those things, but still really annoying. I know my time will come.
Just to put a few comments in, picking up on some quotes.
"I also have a lot of my free time during the day during the week, as I work in retail and I do 2 lates a week and also work a fair amount at the weekend. The MTT schedule and traffic on Sky means that during this free time there are not a lot of MTT's that really float my boat. Playing in MTT's where top prize is under £70 dosen't really do it for me."
You are playing off a sub £100 bankroll, you should be playing small buy ins to conserve your bankroll and build it slowly. To coin a phrase "Rome was not build in a day" £2 and £3 buy in tourneys will be best until you are over £150ish.
"I will be starting out at 10nl (playing a combination of £'s and Euro's) and will be 3 tabling. I will be using very aggressive bankroll management starting out by depositing £60."
If you plan to play 10nl off a £60 roll, unless you are a very good player, or crazy lucky, you will almost certaintly go busto, either through a run of coolers, tilt, or just getting beaten by better players.
Stick to either cash 4nl or sngs imo, get better, do research, develop your game and win. Sounds like hard work - but its the only way. Or if you just want the buzz of the gamble play 10nl, but understand it will not be profitable long term based on current ability, imo.

If you read the whole thread you will see the figure I state as bankroll is not my actual bankroll but the amount I am holding on this site.
A very quick update. Only entered the mini and mian rebuys tonight. In both events took no addons and no rebuys. In the mini I bubbled the cash. In the main I ended up taking 3rd for £510.15, my biggest cash to date on Sky. So off to bed a happy man. MTT's Played 26 Profit £404.03 ROI 191.44% ITM% 19.23% Posted by 68Trebor
So the morning after the night before and having had time to reflect I have a couple of hands to review.
Firstly my exit hand from the mini, when on the cash bubble.
Really badly played, should never have called the flop bet, was on the bubble of cashing and should have thrown it away after the villain's flop shove. Will learn for next time.

Then the hand that probably cost me at least £300. When 3 handed on FT of Main the following hand came up.
Looking back I really missed the chance to obliterate the villain's stack. I think I should have called the villain's raise on the flop rather than shoving. At the time put him on an over pair but now think my shove gave away my hand. If I had flatted his raise I think he would of bet the turn as he was pretty aggressive. Thoughts please.
Also looking back I played quite aggressive from 2 tables out but then really tightened up once we got down to 3 handed. Needed to continue to be aggressive once 3 handed and need to learn from this for next time.
Just busted the £12k Sky Sports BH. Having satellited in for £7.20 I was pleased to finish 38th for a min cash and also take 2 Bounties for a profit of over £50. Played the Mini as well but never really got going finishing mid table in 232nd.
Was nice to see my big hand (see above) from the final table of last night's main shown on the poker clinic and for Ryan to say I played the hand well, appears KWD was on the steal.
As you can see from acca above I nearly landed it, only Exeter let me down with a 2-2 draw.
Didn't play any poker on Saturday, but did play 3 MTT's on Sunday, an £11 BH and 2 x £5.50 BH's. Played shocking and quickly exited, really was too tired to play so called it a day.
Tonight, Monday, I tried satelliting in to the main but finished on the bubble in 4th place. Thought sod it and paid straight into the main and mini. My mini adventure didn't last long crashing out in 227/542. The main, however, went a lot better with a 6th place finish giving me a total return of £324.42 including Bounties. The hand I went out is below. The villain had been relentless in his aggression towards me and I thought I had him. Perhaps I should have held on and looked to ladder, but the jumps in cash from 6th to 3rd weren't great and a double up would have guaranteed top3 and a shot at the win. What do you think.

Nonetheless, it doesnt change the fact that playing 10nl at a poker room off a £60 roll (even if it is just one of many sites) is a recipe for busto.
