All is revealed here...

My cat regularly beats me heads-up - Kendall

Tony Kendall makes his living from poker - off table. Now he answers our questions in the Turbo interview

Age?
42

What is your nickname? Tikay, which is phonetic, or Gramps, which is libellous.

Where are you based? Derbyshire, but I seem to mainly live in a hotel near Heathrow these days.

How long have you been playing poker?  About 12 years.

What is your biggest win? I rarely win as such, as I'm king of the choppers (as it were). My biggest outright win was about £22,000 but I've chopped about 50 festival tournaments.

What is your local/favourite casino?  Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham is the best card room on earth by a country mile, but I play mostly at Luton's G Casino because the lads there are a great bunch and play the game with a smile.

Describe your game style: Tight/passive/comatose. One hand an hour is me being loose.

What is your preferred format? Live poker is the nuts, ideally tournaments and preferably Omaha. For cash games, it's Dealer's Choice every time for me. I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than play Hold'em cash.

What triggered your interest in poker? Money. I was a big spread bettor, but poker was more cost effective and I actually make money now instead of losing it. Poker satisfies my incurable desire to gamble and I enjoy the company of shady characters too.

What would you do if you weren't a professional? Be a bon viveur, a train spotter, study wildlife, traveland take a degree in electricity pylons, a fascinating subject that has yet to catch the public's imagination.

What's your table image? My aim at every table is to get everyone chatting. Anyone that sits at my table equipped with a hoodie, shades and iPod, refusing to smile, would be shot if I had my way. Poker is meant to be a game and games are meant to be enjoyed. Listen up kidz!

Who is your poker hero and who would youmost like to go heads-up against? As a poker hero, I can't choose between Greg Raymer and Julian Thew. Heads-up I have no desire to play anyone, as I'm hopeless. My cat regularly beats me heads-up.

Favourite poker slang or jargon? I like ‘back-raise' because it annoys the kidz, which is good.

What's the best bit of poker advice given or received? Received? "Wait for a better situation" - Mickey Wernick, "Bankroll management is key" - Dave Penly, "Win and lose with dignity" - Dennis Barnes, "Learn to pass aces" - Dean Morris.

Recommend a poker book or film: I don't watch films, I'm a grown up. I've yet to read a poker book that helped my game and it's nonsense to suggest you can learn poker from books.

Name an up and coming poker player: Toby Lewis and Dean Morris are two to watch out for.

What do you do in your downtime? Thankfully, I don't have much and my goal in life is to work 24/7. I'm quite unable to relax, which makes me a sad soul I suppose, but I do enjoy nocturnal activities of all sorts.
