Big Shoves

Been playing in the mini tonight and had a couple times now people have shoved over 20BB with no action before hand. I had JJ and folded as we're under 10 handed now and would have been eliminated if I lost.

What are people's usual experiences from these hands? I normally end up seeing 99 1010 at lower levels but not reached this level in a large tourny before.

To add some background, I think he was 2nd UTG and I was just behind at a 6 handed table. There are no short stack at the table he is trying to scalp either. Wouldn't he play AA KK QQ with more deception? ie look for action?

Insta reshove. I'm never folding jacks in this spot so late on in a tournament. A lot of the time we are a mile ahead, if your up against a k a q, then weve got it in slightly ahead.

Just unlucky if were up against a higher pair.

I guess its my first time this deep in a proper tourny and worried he would have me beat with QQ+

Will learn a lesson but did make final table though! Which is great cause I got entry through the fbook comp.

£100. Very pleased as I'd lost my teeny roll last week! Was looking for a way to get back in.
This was my first major cash. Well, major for me!

Must say it does feel deserved though. Had some bad beats lately and really done some studying and stuff so I like to think it paid off... Saying that though I did sucker someone with 99 vs KK at around 40 left!

Its very rare that you will go deep in a tourny without a little bit of luck. I don't think i have ever final tabled a MT with a decent sized field without getting my money in bad atleast once. Good that you realised it happend thats the varience in MTT

The moral of the story here is never play with the laptop on the table whilst you're having dinner with the kids!

My thought process was literally, 'ok then let's race, I'm busy here - best case you've got AQ, but more likely a mid to low pair' - I (like you) thought there was no way people would risk everyone folding to their premium pair. Live 'n learn. Nice to have a couple of outs on the river...

Still, it meant I could concentrate on dessert.
