Sky Poker Tour London at the Aspers Casino, Stratford was played this past weekend with Aaron ‘Ramrage’ Flamand taking 1st place and £11,905. His epic heads up battle with Chris Love finally ended with Aaron’s King high spade flush beating Chris’ lower flush.
In what was one of the most cosmopolitan Sky Poker Tour events ever the final featured players not only from the UK but the US, Italy, Spain and Brazil.
The £200 buy-in event, the first leg of the 2013 Tour attracted 267 runners, a record for a Sky Poker Tour leg outside the Grand Final, for a £53,400 prize pool
Next stop of the Sky Poker Tour will be Dublin on 11th-12th May, our first visit to Ireland, with satellite qualification on www.skypoker.com from next week.
This was a great event, didn't have the usual SPT feel, like above, had more of a cosmopolitan feel about it
Firstly a huge thanks to all the Sky staff who ran this event like clockwork, the venue was an obvious choice for an SPT, dual hosting with the Premier League! Only problem is I know who wins! (no spoilers)
For me this was a game of two halves, grinded stack up to 88k with one hand of the day left, got stupidly involved with AJ and ran into quads, paid him 58k to leave me 13bb for day 2.
First hand of day 2 I picked up JJ and shoved it into AQ, I rarely win these flips and as usual was sent to the rail 88k donked off in two hands!
Had a chat with Thewy about the hand, that's why the SPT has the edge, instant advice
Had the pleasure of playing with Jen Mason on day 1, what a grest player Jen is! This was a really tough table.
Only negative is that the Sat night side event didn't run, a few had turned up to play that but because of the large amount of cash tables there was no event
Had a great time over the weekend at Aspers. Shame about how bad I ran. On first table had the pleasure of Redmond Lee and the eventual winner, Aaron Flammard. He raised on the button with 85h, I 3-bet my AdAh and he called. Flop was 467h for a straight flush. 4th Heart did not come out so retained some chips
This was no exception even though I played pretty bad and lost two crucial flips to send me packing early.
Ended up railing the Premiere League FT and then having some fun on the cash tables the next day. Managed to break even somehow, after losing a £520 pot KK v AA 5-bet AIP.
Looking forward to Dublin and hope to see you all there!
sounded like a great event just seen that dublin is up next and surprize surprize i,am in spain again not that i would qualify hoping to go away in october i wonder what leg that will be LOL
