Meanwhile, the $1,000 Re-Entry NLH affair attracted a whopping field of 3,164, of which just 55 remain, & the winner can look forward to a half million dollar payday, which is quite an ROI. I cannot see any Brits still in this, but there may be one or two. Currently 6th in chips is one Kenny Nguyen. ("Nguyen" is pronounced "Win"). I've never heard of this particular Nguyen, but the most famous Nguyen is of course Scotty - you call me baby & it's all over - but do you realise how many Nguyens there are playing poker in the USA? The question is rhetorical, of course, because you neither know, nor care, but I'm going to tell you anyway. 697. SIX HUNDRED & NINETY SEVEN! (Source, THM Database). I assume they were originally from South East Asia, where, one assumes, the Nguyen surname is like Smith in England, Jones in Scotland, Patel in India, or Murphy in Ireland. Fascinating, eh? Perhaps not..... Anyway, here's an interview I did with the great Scotty Nguyen back in 2009. " Great "? Well if Celeb status counts for anything, yup, - the man is incredibly popular over there, as you can see from all the autograph hunters on his case. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_1BA1qFSrE Posted by Tikay10
Jones is NOT a common name in Scotland - Think you meant Wales?
WSOP51 - $10,000 Ladies Championship - 954 entrants Kristin Nepean added to Canada's success in this series as she won the Ladies event, ahead of players from Australia & France. Eleanor Gudger couldn't add to Barny Boatman's UK bracelet tally as she ended the event in 6th place taking home $27,000
WSOP52 - $25,000 NLH 6 max - 175 entrants I always thought Phil Galfond had more than one bracelet, but in fact prior to this event he has just the one (and only one final table). He is currently heads up with Steve Sung who also has one bracelet. Stephen Chidwick exited in 4th place for the UK, with Day 1 & 2 chipleader Max Lehmanski just behind in 5th.
WSOP53 - $1500 NLH - 2816 entrants Sky player James Rann made a min-cash in 262nd place (for $2775) as 25 players move forward to Day 3. Jonathan Cohen (yes another Canadian) is chip leader overnight, with German Sebastian Paul in second. David Vamplew (8th) is the only British player left, while down in 19th is the really annoying Costa Rican veteran Humberto Brenes.
WSOP54 - $1000 NLH - 2883 entrants Well in the money after Day 1 (only 243 remain). I haven't seen a full update yet, and haven't been able to see if either Bromley is still going. Unfortunately it is unlikely that I will be online again today so if anyone has proper end of day information, please feel free to add it here
WSOP55 - $50000 Poker Players Championship -120 entrants It looks like there are only 4 elimniations on Day 1 - Ralph Perry, Matt Glantz, Johnny Chan & Vanessa Selbst, as 116 remain. Play is continiung with it looks like Jonathan Duhamel - another Canadian of course (who got most of Selbst's chips) the leader but it is very early days.
WSOP52 - $25,000 NLH 6 max - 175 entrants In the heads-up battle of 1-bracelet holder, Steve Sung got the better of Phil Galfond and is over a million dollars richer as a result.
WSOP53 - $1500 NLH - 2816 entrants They've called it a night with 3 players left, and the chip leader is Scottish pro David Vamplew. American Barry Shaffer is close behind, while the third player (from Finland) has about a third of the two big stacks.
WSOP54 - $1000 NLH - 2883 entrants And we're back to 14 players going forward to Day 3 again! Barry Hutter is the chip leader, with almost twice as much as anyone else as several big hands saw clashes between big stacks near the end of play. One Brit remains - Thomas Hall, with two ladies also among the last 14. Other UK cashes - Andre Sochovsky (17th), Louis Salter (24th), Sam Grafton (66th) & Arjun Pasricha (71st),
WSOP55 - $50000 Poker Players Championship -132 entrants Some late entrants (on Day 2!) took the field up to 132, 24 more than last year. 78 remain, headed by David Benyamine, ahead of Jonathan Duhamel with Brit Mathew Ashton tucked in there in third. Richard Ashby, Steven Chidwick & Rory Matthews are also still in there flying either the St George's Cross or the Scottish Saltire. Of course in an event like this there are still loads of "big names" playing on as well, e.g. Lindgren, Brunson (D), Greenstein, Mercier, Harman but I can't see any Shulmans!
WSOP 56 - $2500 NLH - 1736 entrants 261 remain with a few hands left to be played on Day 1, hopefully I'll get a chance to do a proper report on this one later on.
WSOP56 update 242 have made Day 2 with 198 to be paid. Floridian Anthony Ruberto holds the chip lead, with Nicolas Levi the highest placed UK player in 4th. Mark Teltscher is in 19th, with others who are shown as from this country including Klas Lofberg, Jack Ellwood, Martin Malome, Rhys Jones, Anthony Forsyth Forrest, Jack Salter, Paul van Nunes, Deborah Worley Roberts, Sunny Chattha, Jamie Burland, Dan Pickard (Nosebleed on Sky) & Peter Robinson, Big names chasing this bracelet - not so many as most of them were engaged in the Poker Players' event. Still the field does include Pius Heinz & Eric Seidel
P.S. Has anyone heard how Tikay & Ryan are doing post their WSOP cashes? I haven't heard much about or from them in over a week! (perhaps it's a good sign that they are playing and not posting!)
Not sure about RY RY, but Tikay is still playing some PLO out there including some sort of stud game to boot. He is still having fun and living the dream!
(no more cashes though, because he is proper rubbish and Orford is not with him to coach him!)
WSOP53 - $1500 NLH - 2816 entrants David Vamplew finished an agonising 2nd for the 2nd time this Series as he was beaten by American player Barry Shaffer
WSOP54 - $1000 NLH - 2883 entrants Clock one up for the ladies! Dana Castaneda took it down to become the first female to win an Open event since 2007. She only entered after cashing the Ladies Event (she has so little known form the Hendon Mob database have just that cash for her, and have her down as Ukranian, even though the WSOP has her down as a cocktail waitress from Vegas). She has said she will now use part of her $454,000 prize to buy in to the Main Event. Thomas Hall was the second elimination of the day to end up in 13th.
WSOP55 - $50000 Poker Players Championship -132 entrants Still playing Day 3 with 26 players left. Don Nguyen appears to have the chip lead, with Chidwick & Ashton still in but the chip count page is notorious for being behind "real time". I won't be around later to do a full end-of-day report so if anyone else is able to oblige I'll be grateful.
WSOP 56 - $2500 NLH - 1736 entrants 23 players have made it through Day 2, with the chip leader being Japanese player Yasuhiro "OJ" Ojiri. The only player the WSOP has as British that is still in is Nicolas Levi (although i believe he is actually French), after Jack Salter crashed on as the last elimination of the night. Contrary to my post on last night's show thread, Dan Pickard (Nosebleed) does not appear on the list of cashers so he must have bust quietly near the bubble. Other British players who did cash include Klas Lofberg, Mark Teltchser, Paul vas Nunes, Jack Ellwood & Jamie Burland.
WSOP57 - $5000 NLH - 784 entrants Day 1 culiminated with just over 230 players still standing, with Mark Darner the chip leader. A host of well known British players remain in this - Matt Perrins (5th), Sam Trickett (10th), Paul Foltyn (95th), Keith Hawkins (96th), Paul Ephremsem (100th), Rhys Jones (110th), Liv Boeree (165th), Vicky Coren (210th) & Gareth Teatum (218th). Also still in, the likes of Antonio Esfandiari, Barry Shulman, Andy Frankenberger, Maria Ho, JC Tran & Johnny Lodden
To Start Today WSOP58 - $1111 NLH - Little One for One Drop (Day 1A) WSOP59 - $2500 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw
WSOP55 - $50000 Poker Players Championship -132 entrants Just 8 remain to enter the fifth and final day, with Matthew Ashton still providing British interest lying in 3rd place behind chip leader Don Ngueyn. Among the other 6 - Jonathan Duhamel & David Benyamine
WSOP 56 - $2500 NLH - 1736 entrants The end of the day was called 25 hands into heads-up action between German Nikolaus Teichert & American Vincent Maglio. Franco/Brit Nicolas Levi finished 9th, Scandi/Brit Klas Lofberg 62nd and complete Brit Mark Teltscher 65th. Paul vas Nunes, Martin Malone, Antony Forsyth Forrest, Deborah Worley Roberts & Jamie Burland also appear in the cash lists with a Union Flag next to their name.
WSOP57 - $5000 NLH - 784 entrants 31 still battle on for the first prize of nearly $800.000 and of course a bracelet. Seth Berger is the chip leader, with both Matt Perrins & Sam Trickett still in with a shout. Perrins lies 7th overnight with Tricky Trickett down in 25th and in need of a double up pretty sharpish. They've both locked up over $20,000 already. I can't see any other British names in the payout list.
WSOP58 - $1111 NLH - Little One for One Drop (Day 1A) 2233 were whittled down to 428 at the end of Day 1A, although I'm not sure if the 2233 were unique players or included re-entries. Pole Mikolaj Zawadzki has the Day 1A lead, with Liv Boeree in 3rd not far behind. Several other Brits have made Day 2, including Roberto Romanello, Sam Holden & our very own James Rann. All of these have a day off while Day 1B gets played
WSOP59 - $2500 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw - 282 entrants A niche game, and with the buyin falling in between what the recreational players (and lesser-rolled pros) can reasonably afford and what the really big hitters want to play to thin the field down, the field of 282 was perhaps a surprise being well up on last year. 88 got through to Day 2, with the leader being Jie Jen Chang. Michael Mizrachi sits second, with the only British player listed is Richard Ashby in 27th place. Some other big names still survive e.g. Negreanu, Bonomo, Elezra etc.
To Start today - None (but it is Little One Drop Day 1B)
Excellent posts Mr FCHD Could i be so bold as to ask for your christian name so we can all thank you in a more personal way. Cheers Mick Posted by VespaPX
I always thought you had a MOD name like.....Paul or Roger or maybe Tommy
WSOP55 - $50000 Poker Players Championship -132 entrants Merseyside's Matthew Ashton is now a big name in US Poker circles after taking down what (to the pros) is the most important bracelet of the series. (and also taking down $1.8 million and the Chip Reese trophy). It was Ashton's fourth final table of the summer and has lifted him into contention for the Player of the Year award.
WSOP 56 - $2500 NLH - 1736 entrants Nikolaus Teichert grabbed a bracelet for Germany by outlasting American Vincent Meglio in the heads-up stakes. For a list of how the Brits did, please see yesterday's post.
WSOP57 - $5000 NLH - 784 entrants We're down to a final table, and there's a Brit at the top of the chip stacks again - Matt Perrins. Perrins has nearly 2 million chips with his nearest rival about half a million behind. Sam Trickett first on the day, ending up 31st for $20,450
WSOP58 - $1111 NLH - Little One for One Drop (Day 1B) We're now being shown there were 4,576 entries (not necessarily entrants), with just over 900 left (just under 500 getting paid) Suraj Dutt led Day 1B, with Humberto Brenes in 3rd. Brits shown in the Day 1b listings - Andrew Hulme, Salman Behbehani, Jamie Dale, Charles Chattha, Rupom Pal, Toby Lewis, Stephen Chidwick, Craig McCorkell, Andrew Hills, Jonathen Beck, Laurence Houghton, Chris Bjorin (near enough a Brit these days?), Gary Fisher, Jack Salter, Keith Johnson, Alexander Schechter, Iaren Lightbourne, Joseph Carr-Hill, Rickie Vedhara, Ka Kwan Lu, plus Leo Margets is shown as from London but she is definitely not British.
WSOP59 - $2500 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw - 282 entrants 10 left with David "ODB" Baker leading the way. He finished 3rd in this last year, so he is a little bit of a specialist in this game. 6 of the 10 remaining are braclet holders - David Chiu & Daniel Negreanu (5 each), Michael Mizrachi (3) & Baker, Scott Siever & Eli Elezra (1 each) so it's a very well known group of players heading to the final tables. No UK Players made the cash
